Disambiguation edit
Is there a consensus on what to do with some of the names, {i.e. Silver Drive-In, Starlite Drive-In, Trail Drive-In, or Midway Drive-In) which were used many times? --evrik (talk) 20:11, 9 September 2019 (UTC)
Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant edit
I had previously griped about this one some time ago. It was long enough ago that it's certainly fair to consider it an open question.
Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant is not a drive-in theater, it's a restaurant made to resemble a drive-in, with tables made to look like cars (i.e., there's no "driving in"). As such, I don't think it belongs here. - SummerPhDv2.0 04:13, 6 September 2019 (UTC)

Redirects edit
The current inclusion criteria call for non-redirect articles for all listed drive-ins. drive- Yes, re-directs "point to content", but the drive-in still fails the inclusion criteria. I can sit here all day creating re-directs for various drive-ins with no indication that they are/were in any way noteworthy. Heck, given the prevailing attitude that "redirects are cheap", I could easily create redirects for the drive-in in Grease (musical), Grease (film), the video for that one Hooters song, the one near my grandmother's house that's now part of the Air Force base, etc. - SummerPhDv2.0 00:54, 10 December 2019 (UTC)

- Your plan, then, is to limit the list of theaters in the U.S. to blue link, non-redirect notable theaters. Outside of the U.S., for "balance", we will have a far looser standard.
- This would give us a list of notable theaters in the U.S. that have been the subject of non-trivial coverage in independent reliable sources and theaters everywhere else in the world that someone decided to create a redirect for.
- That's a false balance. Extending that line of reasoning, we would need even looser criteria for countries outside of the Anglosphere. How about former Blockbuster locations in the Maldives that had off-street parking? - SummerPhDv2.0 20:28, 10 December 2019 (UTC)

- Different standards based on location is not "balance". Should we adjust List of highest-grossing films so that Bollywood films can get into the top 50? We don't have a List of people from Vatican City. Would we "balance" it against List of people from New York City by listing everyone we can verify was ever a citizen?
- From the list without your false "balance", it seems to me that drive-in theaters were much more of a thing in the U.S. than they were in Australia, Canada, Maldives or the Vatican City. No, I am not in favor of creating artificial weightings based on location to distort that reality. If Maldives Blockbuster locations with off-street parking is a viable category, it should stand on its own, without being propped up by special pleading. - SummerPhDv2.0 23:41, 10 December 2019 (UTC)
- There is no "false balance." There is no special pleading. This may have been more prevalent in the English-speaking world. It's a very small community here that maintains the quality of this page. So far, I think it looks good. Keeping Australia and Canada does no harm, especially since the redirects do lead to content. --evrik (talk) 19:26, 11 December 2019 (UTC)
- This article has inclusion criteria. Redirects do not meet those criteria. If you wish to change the selection criteria, you'll need to demonstrate that your Frankensteined version is somehow something other than your personal preference.
- Artificially increasing the number of entries from outside the U.S. creates an artificial balance, based on your personal preference.
- You have created this artificial set of selection criteria out of nothing without any meaningful justification.
- The number of people editing this page is completely irrelevant to whether or not it should conform to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.
