Talk:List of diplomatic missions of Australia

Sections edit

Why were the sections removed? --cj | talk 12:03, 27 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

To make the article consistent with other diplomatic missions by country articles. The information was merged in with the first paragraphs.Kransky 05:23, 4 May 2007 (UTC)Reply
That's an extremely poor standard to set when good article writing is being compromised.--cj | talk 10:35, 11 May 2007 (UTC)Reply
Nothing was comprimised. The information provided was merely reorganised into the first section. The substantive aspects of the information still remains, only now it looks neater. Kransky 04:34, 1 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Republic of China (Taiwan) edit

Australia does not have diplomatic relations (a pre-requisite for a diplomatic mission) with the Republic of China. Please note the below:[1]

"Joint Communique of the Government of the People's Republic of China and the Australian Government Concerning the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations Between China and Australia

2002/04/19

The Government of the People?s Republic of China and the Australian Government, in conformity with the interests and common desire of the two peoples, have decided upon mutual recognition and the establishment of diplomatic relations as from December 21, 1972.

The two Governments agree to develop their diplomatic relations, friendship and co-operation between the two countries on the basis of the principles of mutual respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity, mutual non-aggression, non-interference in each other?s internal affairs, equality and mutual benefit, and peaceful coexistence.

The Australian Government recognizes the Government of the People?s Republic of China as the sole legal Government of China, acknowledges the position of the Chinese Government that Taiwan is a province of the People?s Republic of China, and has decided to remove its official representation from Taiwan before January 25, 1973.

The Government of the People?s Republic of China appreciates the above stand of the Australian Government.

The two Governments have agreed to exchange Ambassadors as soon as the administrative formalities and practical arrangements have been completed, and to provide each other with all the necessary assistance for the establishment and performance of the functions of diplomatic missions in their respective capitals on the basis of equality and mutual benefit and in accordance with international law and practice."

I have amended the article accordingly. Regards. Redking7 (talk) 10:55, 6 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

This List contains Unsourced Entries edit

At least one entry on the List is not backed up by any source - the "Republic of China" entry is not backed up by any source. This is the Australian Government List, which list is plain and simple. The "Republic of China", or "Taiwan, Penghu, Kinmen or Matsu" are not listed. I note Redking7 tried hard to put this right but got kicked off Wikipedi (permanently no less) for his efforts - Shame on those responsible - The list should be put right.

Cyprus, Georgia, and Armenia edit

Cyprus is NOT part of Asia nor the Middle East. It is a part of Europe and the European Union. With a Greek-Cypriot population of 80%, majority Greek Orothox religion and Greek language there is NOTHING Middle Eastern about this island nation. Please refrain from placing it in Middle East category as it is NOT Middle Eastern. Same goes for Georgia and Armenia. Both are technically part of Europe as they lie north of the Caucus Mountain range. Anything south is considered part of Asia. Georgia is a possible candidate for EU Membership and Armenia has expressed interest in joing the organization within the next decade. Please refrain from adding these two former Soviet Republics with overall Christian populations to the Middle East. If you have something to discuss, do so on this page.

With regards to the Turkish Republic of Nortern Cyprus, no nation on earth recognizes that country except Turkey. Turkey realizes that it's recognition of this country will affect its chances of joining the European Union. --XLR8TION (talk) 20:46, 23 October 2011 (UTC)Reply
