Death of speaker edit
"If the deceased candidate is the Speaker of the United Kingdom seeking re-election the election must be stopped immediately". The entire election of all 500+ candidates, or just the one constituency? If the former it needs to be clearer and given a reference, if the latter then how is this case different? -- John of Reading (talk) 04:10, 7 June 2010 (UTC)
The speaker doesn't stand for a party. But the party rules, rather than the independent rules apparently apply.

Expand article, perhaps? edit
Should this article be expanded to all countries?
In the United States for instance, there are at least 6 instances of candidates who died and still were elected. One just recently. Here is a short list:
- Mel Carnahan - Missouri - 2000
- Patsy Mink - Hawaii - 2002
- Harry Stonebraker - Missouri - 2009
- Carl Geary - Tennessee - 2010
- Jenny Oropeza - California - 2010
- David Andahl - North Dakota - 2020
