This article generates hCard microformats, to make place-names and locations parsable by computers, either acting automatically to index articles, or via a user's browser tool, to (for example) add the subject to an address book. Within the hCard is a Geo microformat, to make the coordinates parsable, so they can be, say, located on a map, or sent to a GPS unit. See also Wikipedia's microformat project. hCard uses HTML classes including: "adr", "county-name", "fn", "label", "locality", "nickname", "note", "org", "region" & "vcard". Geo is produced by {{coord}}, and has classes: "geo", "latitude" & "longitude". Please do not rename or remove these classes. When giving coordinates, please don't be overly precise. |
OShannessy Dam
editThe proper geographic name is O'Shannassy Weir. Location: -37.680205°S,145.905217°E
- The dam would be the water, the weir would be the structure. Garrie 02:16, 22 August 2006 (UTC)
- isn't the lake the water, the dam / weir is the structure, Burragorang Dam structure holding the Lake Dave Rave (talk) 00:10, 4 December 2016 (UTC)
Big table
editWould be great if there was a big table including Dam name, State, ML capacity, and year construction complete, ala Melbourne Water (but with more details). —Pengo 01:17, 11 February 2007 (UTC)
Why big table?
editSurely the way it is is ok as long as everything is in alphabetical order? Fancyfootwork 05:46, 11 February 2007 (UTC)
- I like the list as it is, but it would also be good to have a sortable table (see Melbourne Water) so the dams and reservoirs could be viewed by size (megalitres), or by date of completion, or by name or by state. That way it would be easy to see, for example, the largest or earliest dams. —Pengo 10:18, 11 February 2007 (UTC)
- I think a table with some DETAILS is a perfectly good suggestion. List of contemporary amphitheatres is a great example. Batvette (talk) 19:48, 25 December 2009 (UTC)
Rename proposal
editPlease see a discussion here regarding the renaming of this article and similar ones.--NortyNort (Holla) 03:01, 20 March 2011 (UTC)

editThe Australian reported on six new dams. Unfortunately those articles are behind a pay wall.
This link, from 2014, Dam hard: water storage is a historic headache for Australia, mentions some dams...
...of the six dams to be considered for capital investment in the next 12 months, five are in Tasmania...
