Deletion

edit

This page was copied directly from my userspace by User:Edgars2007, which is apparently a copyright violation. However, I am happy for the work I have posted on this page to remain, as the article is notable. For more info see User Talk:Edgars2007 and a discussion which I posted on the Administrators' Incidents noticeboard. I must stress that I wish for this page to remain, as it is a notable article, and I give my permission for it to be used. Bozzio (talk) 04:06, 21 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hm. It'd be better to delete it and you copy it over. This should not create a precedent; if it was my userspace, I'd be pissed. Choyoołʼįįhí:Seb az86556 > haneʼ 04:10, 21 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
Can't we just oversight the original edit? Kevin Rutherford (talk) 04:15, 21 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
See box above. It's the only way; draft in userspace now has to remain, complete with history. Choyoołʼįįhí:Seb az86556 > haneʼ 04:19, 21 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
That's not correct: as the sole author of the draft, Bozzio can be attributed per WP:Copying within Wikipedia#Proper attribution, List of authors. The problem is that Edgars2007's initial edit makes it appear that Edgars2007 wrote the content actually written by Bozzio. Bozzio, do you wish for your draft to be moved here so that its history reflects the progress of your work? If so, the page here should be speedied G12, and the draft moved. If not, Edgars2007's edit should be revision deleted as suggested by Ktr101, leaving Bozzio as the first editor. Flatscan (talk) 05:28, 21 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
To soften my comment, Seb az86556 would be correct in most cases. User space drafts are a special case because the hosting user is often a single author. Flatscan (talk) 05:26, 22 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Would a history merge be the easiest solution here? Rehevkor 14:40, 21 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

I think it's better to speedy delete and move, if Bozzio wants that. A histmerge requires the extra step of undeletion and interleaves the histories. Flatscan (talk) 05:26, 22 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
Whatever's easiest. Bozzio (talk) 07:25, 26 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
I tagged the article as G12, which will allow you to move your draft. From what I can tell, more admins patrol G12 than RD1, so it should be fulfilled more quickly. Flatscan (talk) 05:07, 27 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Note for admin reviewing G12 tag: Please don't delete this talk page as G8. Thanks. Flatscan (talk) 05:07, 27 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Done - deleted page and moved draft to mainspace. Airplaneman 06:12, 27 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

This happened to me with The Things That Make Me Weak and Strange Get Engineered Away. I wish I found out sooner.--DrWho42 (talk) 07:30, 9 September 2011 (UTC)Reply
