Postmodern Jukebox's cover of "Material Girl"
editI recently added a listing for Postmodern Jukebox's cover of Material Girl featuring Swedish musician Gunhild Carling, and it was removed. I had all of the appropriate information, should I have referenced it from Postmodern Jukebox's website rather than directly from Youtube? TBird100636 (talk) 00:47, 4 April 2017 (UTC)
- Please read WP:SONGCOVER, only covers which have received third party media notability should be introduced. —IB [ Poke ] 04:36, 4 April 2017 (UTC)
- OK, I got it now, have the third party source for this and will use that. If there is anything else I should change after don't hesitate to let me know. TBird100636 (talk) 02:44, 10 April 2017 (UTC)
- Please stop adding it. You do not understand what consists of a reliable source and what is considered notable. —IB [ Poke ] 03:31, 11 April 2017 (UTC)
- Ok, then what do YOU consider a reliable "Third Party" media resource? There are multiple third party references online for that cover, are you looking for something like Billboard to recognize the cover? I see a multitude of different third party sources for the other covers in this article, I even saw one that was simply a link to an iTunes page for one cover. Please help me better understand. - Yes you nailed it. A cover version has to be reported by a reliable third party media, music news websites and magazines like Billboard, Rolling Stone, Kelang!, Mojo, NME etc would be absolutely fine. Also, it should not be a passing mention in the article, like "X covered Y song Z". There should be something substantial in those reliable sources to establish the fact that the cover is notable. —IB [ Poke ] 03:57, 12 April 2017 (UTC)
