Under the top "Distribution of populations" table, it shows Oceania has a 2018 population of 38.3M, with growth rate of 1.47%. But lower down, in the Region tables it shows Oceania had a 2016 poplation of 39.9M, growth rate of 1.54%. I suspect that the 2018 number is incorrect, I don't think the population has declined...

South america

South america should probably be listed in that first table.

North and South America

These are separate continents and should be listed separately. Instead, political correctness has interfered with geography and divided North America in two, listing only "Northern America," slicing off Central America and the Caribbean and including them in "Latin America". There is no continent of Latin America. This entry is supposed to list the population of the continents, and okay, if subdivisions are also listed, fine. But not at the exclusion of the basic facts. I was going to list the two continents separately but couldn't come up with the 2000-2010 rate of increase because - you got it - those separate numbers are not that easy to find anymore, although the separate populations (but not rate of increase) are listed in Continents/Area and population. The division of the two continents is no longer the border of Panama and Colombia but the border of the United States and Mexico. This is geographically wrong, and someone who wants to know how many people live on each continent - not each ethnically and linguistically separated entity - should be able to find that information in this entry.Wlegro (talk) 17:45, 18 February 2012 (UTC)

I don't really understand. I know that the article is using Northern America and Mexico is not part of Northern America but neither of Central America. Why don't use North America and South America as the two continents, and even if you want to make the division of Central America then Mexico is not part of Central America. --Wisi fernando (talk) 21:55, 13 March 2013 (UTC)

Europe&Asia vs Eurasia & North/South vs Americas

This article is highly biased. Either The Americas and Eurasia should be used, or North America , South America, Europe , Asia should be used. Eurasia is more geographically unified than the two Americas , since the Isthmus of Panama is a rather greater barrier to migration than the steppes of Russia. -- 70.24.250.103 (talk) 03:38, 18 April 2013 (UTC)

I removed the NPOV tag because the inclusion of particular continents shows no inherent bias. You must prove bias. I, and it appears the only other two people who have posted on the issue, agree with your point. This article should reflect geographical geography, not human geography. The Isthmus of Panama really doesn't constitute a connection, but the border between Europe and Asia is too big to ignore.

If you can find sources listing the populations, or have a calculator, feel free to edit the article. John Holmes II (talk) 02:07, 2 June 2013 (UTC)

The article uses the United Nations Statistics Division M49 classification (https://unstats.un.org/unsd/methods/m49/m49regin.htm) and UN numbers, so it should read 'Americas', 'Northern America', 'Europe', and 'Asia'. Peace Makes Plenty (talk) 10:47, 30 June 2014 (UTC)

This article is misnamed. These numbers have nothing to do with the continents (in any system), but only the UN statistical regions. The page should be renamed to avoid misleading the reader. --Khajidha (talk) 16:48, 12 December 2017 (UTC)

Titles do not appear

There are many sets of data under the main heading Africa. Looking at the edit text, there are regional titles that do not appear on my screen, such as Eastern Africa. It takes a while to decide where each table of data applies on the continent. I do not know the table format to know what error is, and fix it. Can someone who knows the format fix this?
