Country Music Association Awards
editThis entry lists 46 nominations and 11 Country Music Association awards for Parton. The CMA's website database lists 44 nominations with nine wins.[1] The differences are the Country Music Hall of Fame and the Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement award. I don't believe the CMA counts the Lifetime Achievement award in its official award tallies, since it's something bestowed by the organization and not voted on by its members. While the Country Music Hall of Fame has strong ties to the CMAs, that's considered an award from a different organization with a separate group of voters
I propose moving the Country Music Hall of Fame to its own section and adjusting the count total. I'm not sure the best way to address the Lifetime Achievement award. Brian mansfield (talk) 20:26, 13 January 2018 (UTC)

Sales certifications on award list?
editSales certifications do not belong on a list of awards and nominations. They are typically listed in the discography. I'm not sure why they were added here, this is very non-standard. I tried removing them but I was reverted with no edit summary for explanation. I started discussion at Benjichilders's talk page, in case someone else wants to contribute. --Muhandes (talk) 08:39, 25 November 2021 (UTC)
- I apologize for giving no edit summary, but I have to disagree that certifications are not awards. The RIAA website refers to them as such on their website[1], they are called awards in the lead section of the wiki page defining music certifications, and the artist receives a plaque/award for the sales certification. There's an entire wall covered with them in the awards section of Dolly's Chasing Rainbows Museum at Dollywood. I added the certifications to this page so they would all be visible in one spot since Dolly's discography is split up into an albums page and a singles page. Also, they are listed in a separate section of the page from the awards since they could arguably be excluded from that list, much like the other honors section, which includes items that are not technically awards either (ie. honorary degrees, hall of fame inductions, etc.). - @Benjichilders: I have no problem repeating my self here. It is your opinion that certifications should be included in award lists, but the consensus is otherwise. Sampling featured lists, Madonna, Lady Gaga, Adele, and so on, it is very clear that none of them includes certifications. The reason is obvious: per WP:LSC a list should have a clear inclusion criteria. In this case it is obvious: "awards and nominations". Sales certifications are not considered awards nor nominations by the community. I ask that follow consensus and remove these certifications. --Muhandes (talk) 14:01, 28 November 2021 (UTC)
- @Benjichilders: Since you are not reacting I am going to apply WP:BRD: you went bold and added the table (which does not exist in any other awards and nominations list). I reverted and now we discuss. The article should remain without the table until consensus is reached. You are free to take this to Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Lists or maybe Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Awards. --Muhandes (talk) 12:08, 3 December 2021 (UTC)
- @Muhandes: Feel free to remove the table if that is what you would like to do. We're obviously not going to see eye to eye on this and no one else is weighing in. I don't wish to keep going back and forth about it. Benjichilders (talk) 14:02, 3 December 2021 (UTC)
