Merger proposal edit

It has been suggested that Places of interest in and around Ernakulam and Tourist attractions in Kochi be merged into this article. Please give your suggestions below:

Strong Oppose : Tourist attractions in Kochi is part of series of Articles like Tourist attractions in Mysore , Tourist attractions in Bangalore , Tourism in Chennai,Tourist attractions in Delhi,List_of_tourist_attractions_in_Mumbai and many more on Indian Cities. and per the convention of world wide cities like Tourist attractions of Beijing, Landmarks_of_Chicago ,List_of_tourist_attractions_in_Amsterdam . Besides Tourist attractions in Kochi is a DYK selected article also. -- Tinu Cherian - 10:00, 15 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Alright. What about merging Places of interest in and around Ernakulam and Places of interest in Ernakulam to Tourist attractions in Kochi? The contents in all the three pages are the same. There is no point in keeping different articles which conveys the same information.
Initially I thought of merging the other two articles to this page, because of the flexibility in the article name. Ernakulam is the district which holds the city of Kochi. In the case of Mysore, Bangalore, Delhi, etc; the district name is the same. And DYK did not stop in merging the articles. :)

I dont really think that solution. I think Places of interest in Ernakulam has a bigger scope , if you mean as Ernakulam district. Let me see if I can work on this article and expand it. For all the city articles, the attractions are primarly in and around the city than the district. -- Tinu Cherian - 10:26, 15 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
Nope.. The attraction in and around Kochi is the same if you are taking the attractions in the district. Except Athirappally, all other attractions cited in the Tourist attractions in Kochi article are in the district of Ernakulam. This is obviously redundant information shared across articles. Hence the suggestion for merge is valid. I strongly oppose the idea of keeping diferrent articles for the tourist attractions in the district, till the articles are re-written/re-structured. In that case, merging Places of interest in Ernakulam to Tourist attractions in Kochi as the latter is 'better' written and people around the world identify the place as Kochi than Ernakulam and as per the convention of other article names. Just my thoughts -- Tinu Cherian - 10:51, 15 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Support : Any progress regarding the merge ? Either way is Ok. But need not keep different articles with same contents -- Rajith Mohan (Talk to me..) 07:24, 24 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
