Galápagos flat-bellied lizard edit
I spent a while searching the internet, including the references listed on the page, and while I can find photos labeled as Galápagos flat-bellied lizards, I can't find any scientific source that includes the beast, so I added a dubious tag to it. 01:24, 18 August 2014 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rks13 (talk • contribs)
- Concur - can't find any mention outside of flickr image captions either. "Reptiles and Amphibians of the Pacific Islands" [1] does not list it.
- The underlying problem is the absence of inline sourcing. Every animal listed should be supported by a source. Peter coxhead (talk) 08:39, 22 April 2016 (UTC)
- Went through what appears to be the most authoritative listing ([2]) - the Darwin Foundation checklist. Plenty of lava lizards but nothing that answers to the beast found in all those photos (and all the actual 'flat lizards' of similar colouration (Platysaurus) are South African endemics). Removed the entry.- The checklist, already present in the refs, could be used as a good catch-all source for the entire article, I think.-- Elmidae (talk) 09:58, 22 April 2016 (UTC)
- @Elmidae: yes, I agree re the checklist. The introduction could say that the list is based on this source except where otherwise noted. The scientific names used by the Darwin Foundation are sometimes not up-to-date, so you do need to check the currently accepted name. Thus I added the spider Neoscona oaxacensis which I photographed there, but when I last looked the list called it Neoscona cooksoni. Peter coxhead (talk) 11:23, 22 April 2016 (UTC)
Dolphins? edit
Why is there a picture of a Bottle-nosed Dolphin in the article when Dolphins aren't listed? 86.153.227.185 (talk) 09:31, 29 May 2017 (UTC)
