Talk:List of airports in Israel

This list includes an airport in the occupied territories

edit

This list includes an airport in the occupied territories: [1]

So we have two options:

1. The airfield is removed from this list since this list is about airfields in Israel and the airfield is located outside of Israel, in the occupied territories.

2. This list gets renamed to "Airports in Israel and the occupied territories" --Supreme Deliciousness (talk) 23:21, 11 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Brewcrewer, in my edit before I mistakenly changed the name of the Jerusalem International Airport. This was a a mistake and not my real intent of the edit which was to point out that its located in occupied lands. --Supreme Deliciousness (talk) 11:35, 25 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

It is an Israeli airport even if the land may not be considered Israel. The list is not titled "Airports in Israel".Cptnono (talk) 20:56, 25 December 2010 (UTC)Reply
I'm not saying its not Israeli, I'm only pointing out that its not located in Israel but in the occupied territories. --Supreme Deliciousness (talk) 22:31, 25 December 2010 (UTC)Reply
And that has nothing to do with this article. Therefore the italics (already not making sense without a key) and the note are worthless since the list does not make any such claim.Cptnono (talk) 08:28, 29 December 2010 (UTC)Reply
And if JRS is completely dead and Israel has zero oversight (who pays for the fence?) then remove it completely. If it is a parcel of land that no one claims ownership (even illegaly) to or if no one runs any maintenance on (even a fence) then just remove it.Cptnono (talk) 08:43, 29 December 2010 (UTC)Reply
Yes it has something to do with the article. When someone reads "Israeli airports" they would automatically believe that the airports are located in Israel - this is not the case here. So it needs to be pointed out that some of them are not located in Israel, see for example this article, here it is pointed out that some of the french military air force bases are not in mainland France: [2]. In the case of this article we are not even talking about any territories belonging to Israel, but occupied and belonging to others, so there is even more reason to point this out here then in the french air force base article. --Supreme Deliciousness (talk) 10:50, 29 December 2010 (UTC)Reply
You automatically believe maybe but the list makes no actual claim to that. There is no need to highlight the occupation/annexation/whatever dispute at every opportunity.Cptnono (talk) 15:56, 29 December 2010 (UTC)Reply
You did not reply to all my arguments above. Name of the article is "Israeli airports", what other country's has its airports in other peoples country and territories? France has some air force bases outside mainland France in french territory's, yet it is still pointed out that they are not in mainland France. In the case of this article we are not even talking about any territories belonging to Israel, but occupied and belonging to others. See also the List of United States military bases article where it is pointed out which ones are in the USA, and which ones are in other countries. --Supreme Deliciousness (talk) 12:19, 8 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
We are not talking about other country's airports. This is an unusual situation with a completely unrelated and different set of circumstances then those articles. Some would even argue that those are in Israel even if they are illegal.Cptnono (talk) 04:00, 9 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
The French and American bases and airports are also not about about other country's bases and airports, but about French and American. Its a different circumstance in the way that the French bases are in French territory's and the American military bases are in countries that have accepted them being there, while the Israeli run airports are in other countries and territories that are internationally recognized as occupied and part of Syria and the PT. The only country that would argue that they are in Israel is Israel since they are recognized as occupied by the IC and not part of Israel. According to Wikipedia rule npov, Due and undue weight, we must follow the world view. --Supreme Deliciousness (talk) 10:51, 9 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
List of airports in Morocco includes airports from Western Sahara, such as Dakhla Airport (Dakhla, Western Sahara). We also have List of airports in Western Sahara that includes that same airport. Both lists are in Category:Lists of airports by country. Tzafrir (talk) 05:47, 9 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

List of airports in IsraelList of airports in Israel, Jerusalem and the Golan Heights – The current name is just really wrong. The article has one airport in Jerusalem and one in the Golan Heights. It was at least somewhat ok until four years ago when someone decided to make an "uncontroversial" move to move the page from "List of Israeli airports" to "List of airports in Israel" because it would match a template. Neither Jerusalem nor the Golan Heights are internationally recognized as part of Israel so having the current title indicates that they are when they in fact are not. Either the airports should be removed from the article or the page should be moved. Thepharoah17 (talk) 17:12, 27 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
