Title change dates edit

I'm borrowing this response from Edward Hyena from the talk page at TNA X Division Championship to explain why I changed the dates to mark the beginning of each tag team's title win:

While it is understood that WWE SmackDown! (as well as many Professional Wrestling events) are not performed live, but pretaped, the kayfabe relies on the airdates as the occurance of the event. Let's give an example, Edge & Rey Mysterio won the title on November 5, 2002, but the event is aired November 7th. On the following SmackDown!, the announcers will refer to the title that was won "last week". They will not refer to the championship reign as having lasted only a few days, but a week ago, if they even mention title length. If someone else wins the title, it will be referred to as being held "for a week", instead of as being held for however long it was ACTUALLY held.

I think the point I'm trying to make is this. Kayfabe relies on what is being presented to the audience as a whole, and not what is actually happening. To a very large majority of the people who watch WWE wrestling, they watched the title change hands on SmackDown!, and not at the taping of SmackDown! a week earlier.

If anyone else wants to argue AGAINST my POV, they can just go to the official page located here vDub 18:41, 8 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

I can't leave this without a response. WWE admits that their show is taped, and has announced numerous title changes right after the show finished taping. Therefore, listing titles as changing when they aired is going against with the main source said. Mshake3 23:55, 15 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Belt Appearance edit

Is it me, or is the WWE Tag Team Championship belt very similar to the belts used during the late 80s and 90s? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.144.177.39 (talk) 01:33, 13 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Yes, this is the design that the current belts are based off of. TonyFreakinAlmeida (talk) 19:25, 16 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Inaccuracy edit

There is a error in the table. The "Chris Jericho and Edge (2) / The Big Show" reign appears at the official WWE title history as two separate reigns. Armbrust Talk to me Contribs 14:55, 22 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

John Cena's reign edit

John cena was tag team champions several times and he is not in the reign chart? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.251.158.125 (talk) 00:51, 25 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Cena held the World Tag Team Championship several times, NOT the WWE Tag Team Championship. This list is correct. Blozier2006 (talk) 00:36, 2 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

IDK what your talking about dude... Cena has won the WWE Tag-Team Champions Twice once when he was in the Nexus and one time with the miz when they defeated the corre on a raw show.... DUH — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.245.222.232 (talk) 23:18, 12 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

Reigns by wrestler edit

if your going to have epico in reigns by Wrestlers you might as well add everyone else.. or change it to only 100 combine reigns or more — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.245.217.104 (talk) 02:18, 14 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned references in List of WWE Tag Team Champions edit

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of List of WWE Tag Team Champions's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Reference named "Truetitlehistory":

  • From List of World Tag Team Champions (WWE): "WWE World Tag Team Title". The Meltdown. Retrieved 2007-05-11.
  • From List of WWE Intercontinental Champions: "WWE Intercontinental Title". Wrestling-titles.com. Retrieved 2009-06-12.

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT 14:10, 29 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Xavier Woods to be added? edit

I think there is enough evidence to add Xavier to the list.

1. His TNA tag title reign in which he didn't win the titles but is still listed on the Wikipedia page much like this one.

2. The Spirit Squad are all added to the World Tag Title list and that's even more people.

3. http://www.wwe.com/shows/smackdown/2015-03-12/who-are-number-one-contenders-tag-team-titles-27189180 This article by WWE a month and a half ago suggest that when New Day wins the tag titles it could be under "Freebird Rule"

4. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kKl7_RAc6YM "this means a lot to me because this is my first championship gold in WWE"

If anyone has any reason as to NOT add him please let me know 'cause I might just go ahead and make the change for now, anyway. LordVacation 13:00, 27 April 2015

  • So to sum up your reason for adding Original Research is
    • He did it elsewhere
    • It happened to someone else
    • A suggestion
    • A personal comment...
      • Yeah I see NO reason to add him unless the WWE actually presents that as a fact.  MPJ -US  21:02, 27 April 2015 (UTC)Reply

kay well I'm sure they will soon enough and someone else can add it when they do. LordVacation 19:16, 27 April 2015

Yes, there are reasons NOT to add Xavier Woods. Until WWE indicates that he is a co-holder of the WWE Tag Team Championship, he should not be listed. WWE.com's roster page and championship history page only list Kofi Kingston and Big E as the current tag champions. Woods is not listed as having won any WWE championships (non-NXT). Xavier Woods should not have been added to this article yet. Whoever added Woods should have waited. Grammarian10 (talk) 12:12, 28 April 2015 (UTC)Reply

WWE has now added Xavier Woods as a current co-holder of the WWE Tag Team Championship. Initially, they were only crediting Big E. and Kofi. I think Xavier should be added as a co-holder at this point. Grammarian10 (talk) 15:41, 30 April 2015 (UTC)Reply

Usos 3 time champs? edit

WWE keeps listing them as 3 time champs when they come out to the ring. The info graphic says: "Former WWE Tag Team Champions (3 Times)". Why are they doing that? I even mailed them but WWE never answered me or fixed any of my previous error spottings.WrestlingLegendAS (talk) 13:42, 2 November 2016 (UTC)Reply

Recent bloating of table edit

I have just seen that recently this table has been bloated with the every same notice in most reigns that "WWE recognizes this reign as ... days" (e.g. here. While I accept that this information might be useful, the way it is presented is not. Where has this ever been discussed (certainly not here). My suggestion would be to add the differing number to the length column or add an extra column or at least to severely trim the note. Str1977 (talk) 17:43, 8 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

@Str1977: On the main project page, it was discussed and this was the consensus reached archived here. Just finally got around to implementing it to this list. All other active championships except the Intercontinental have been updated to this change. --JDC808 22:35, 8 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

Bar edit

Why aren't Cesaro and Sheamus listed as The Bar in any of their reigns? I know they weren't ALWAYS referred to as that but I think it should be added above. Solitude6nv5 (talk) 21:26, 9 June 2019 (UTC)Reply

According to WWE it was not there official tag team name, so it shouldnt be included. - Galatz גאליץשיחה Talk 13:33, 11 June 2019 (UTC)Reply

Combine the separate New Day entries edit

Hey, I noticed that New Day (Kingston & Woods) is separate from the main New Day title reign in Combined reigns - By team. The team is still the New Day though, so shouldn't we just have that total be there with a note that Big E was not part of this current reign (the 3rd one)? It would still show in Combined reign - by wrestler that his total days were not increasing. ColeTrain4EVER (talk) 16:03, 14 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
