Repeated deletion of information about the September 2016 Deir ez-Zor air raid edit

Some editors continue to remove this content. This attack was an attack by the United States against the Syrian Army. Whether or not the September 2016 Deir ez-Zor air raid was intentional has no bearing on whether or not it was an attack. Since the title of this article is "List of United States attacks on the Syrian government during the Syrian Civil War" and is NOT "List of Intentional United States attacks on the Syrian government during the Syrian Civil War", information about the September 2016 Deir ez-Zor air raid belongs on this page. Since the content is sourced, before removing the content, please reply with your argument about why the September 2016 Deir ez-Zor air raid should not be known to readers of this article.selfwormTalk) 04:40, 15 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

Yes, there appears to be a persistent disruptive activity on the part of an unconfirmed account User:GodsPlaaaaan, which is possibly sb′s sock or suchlike; i have reported the issue to ANI (Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents#User:UnteenthSense′s unethical behavior, and EW), but for some mysterious reason this article does not even have a semi-protection status that all Syria War-related articles have.Axxxion (talk) 20:23, 15 February 2018 (UTC)Reply
That user has made a number of edits removing the U.S's involvement in conflicts. It doesn't appear to be in good faith anymore. Murchison-Eye (talk) 20:36, 15 February 2018 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for contacting an admin. I will postpone restoring the deleted material.selfwormTalk) 05:38, 16 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

List of United States attacks on the Syrian government during the Syrian Civil WarList of United States attacks on Syria during the Syrian Civil War – The page Syrian government is a redirect to Council of Ministers (Syria) and neither redirect nor the target article are meaningful for the purpose of this page; also we do not generally use "Syrian government" as a belligerent title in Syrian Civil War articles as it is not specific. There are currently 4 governments in Syrian territories - Council of Ministers (Syria), Syrian Interim Government, Syrian Salvation Government and Executive Council (Democratic Federation of Northern Syria); current title is very confusing in this regard. Furthermore, the US attacks were against armed forces and industries of Ba'athist Syrian Arab Republic; not only against the Ba'athist Syrian government (Council of Ministers). • Support – Proposed title is more concise, and is still accurate. Despite the large number of countries that despise Syria's current government, the Syrian Government is still the internationally-recognized government of Syria. LightandDark2000 (talk) 05:04, 15 April 2018 (UTC)Reply
  • "List of United States attacks in Syria during the Syrian Civil War" could also solve the problem without making reference to the sides. Dekimasuよ! 01:31, 16 April 2018 (UTC)Reply
If we take out the reference to the sides, then the article could become too broad. (By the way, "United States" should be shortened to "US", give n the naming pattern of other articles and to make the title more concise.) LightandDark2000 (talk) 01:39, 16 April 2018 (UTC)Reply
Which other articles are you referring to? Dekimasuよ! 01:32, 20 April 2018 (UTC)Reply
Proposed List of United States attacks in Syria during the Syrian Civil War could be rather confusing, due to the unclear areas of control of Syrian Arab Republic in the Syrian territories.GreyShark (dibra) 06:04, 24 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

List of United States attacks in Syria during the Syrian Civil WarList of US attacks on Syrian government forces during the Syrian Civil War – The title "list of United States attacks in Syria during the Syrian Civil War" is simply too broad. The US has conducted numerous attacks in Syria since 2014, most of them not against government forces. Yes, there are 4 institutions claiming to be the government of Syria, but the one in Damascus is almost universally referred to simply as the "Syrian government", even by anti-government sources who don't recognize it as legitimate. "Syria" by itself is much more ambiguous than "Syrian government", making the purpose of the previous move unaccomplished. As LightandDark2000 mentioned, the United States could be shortened to "US". Editor abcdef (talk) 11:33, 24 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

  • Support: I think this is a sensible suggestion, as to make the list of attacks "in Syria" comprehensive would mean listing all of the strikes that form part of the anti-ISIS campaign, which would make the list pretty cumbersome. BobFromBrockley (talk) 12:58, 24 April 2018 (UTC)Reply
  • Support - Although I would change the proposed title to List of US attacks on Syria during the Syrian Civil War, or List of US attacks on the Syrian Government during the Syrian Civil War, since the proposed title is a little long. However, I support a renaming because the current title could be more concise, and because just calling it "attacks in Syria" is too general. LightandDark2000 (talk) 22:56, 24 April 2018 (UTC)Reply
  • Procedural break - previous rename closure may have been incorrect, since the proposal was to rename to List of United States attacks on Syria during the Syrian Civil War (on Syria, not in Syria), but it may have been closed inconsistently. The non-admin closing editor was notified.GreyShark (dibra) 13:13, 26 April 2018 (UTC)Reply
The article is correctly fixed to be List of United States attacks on Syria during the Syrian Civil War, which changes this proposal. Please redraft the proposal due to correct article naming.GreyShark (dibra) 18:28, 26 April 2018 (UTC)Reply
