Talk:List of Town of Oyster Bay Landmarks

great stuff, and colors

edit

Hey, i find my way to this nice list from noticing appropriate addition of link to it, at National Register of Historic Places listings in Nassau County, New York. Great work here! I am just now adding it to the Wikipedia:WikiProject Historic sites, which supports coverage of historic sites world-wide, including those defined by municipal registers like this one.

As a small matter, i notice you adapted the NRHP list-article style, including use of the blue shade of color used systematically elsewhere to mean NRHP. So, I think picking a different color for your register would be better. Then, the list-article could use the NRHP color to indicate the NRHP ones, and your different color for the others. See other color examples and other registers' examples at wp:HSITES. Cheers, doncram (talk) 23:44, 15 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

I created template:Oyster Bay color and used it to differentiate between which are NRHP ones vs. not NRHP ones. The color itself can be changed, centrally, to any other shade than the one i arbitrarily picked to start with. If there is a meaningful color used by the Town of Oyster Bay that would be preferred. doncram (talk) 15:58, 16 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

order of listing

edit

Currently the order of listing appears to be, first, the date of designation by Town of Oyster Bay, and then random order. I think alphabetical order should be used at least within the sets of landmarks that were designated on the same day. Or, the meaning of the ordering needs to be explained. Also it would be possible to present them all in alphabetical order. The date column is a sortable column. But there should be some discernable order. doncram (talk) 16:51, 16 April 2009 (UTC)Reply
