Error with Slash and his video game appearances?
editwasn't Slash also in the first NES turtles game? I think he was a middle-boss guarding tied-up Splinter on some rooftop.
- I just looked at the walkthrough of the game [1], and Slash is not mentioned anywhere in it. Unless they used another name for him. -- Ritchy 13:57, 19 May 2006 (UTC)
- The first TMNT NES game came out in 1989, and according to the official TMNT website, Slash first appeared in 1990, in the 1987 TMNT cartoon ("Slash: The Evil Turtle from Dimension X") and as a toy action figure. He first appeared in the TMNT Adventures comics in 1991.
- Slash definitely wasn't in it. I played through this game many times and never encountered him.
- The one that you are thinking of, Ritchy, is Mechaturtle, a precursor to other robot turtles such as the T4 (Dreamwave) and Turtlebot (2003 video game/cartoon series). The S 21:44, 25 July 2006 (UTC)
Granitor?
editI remember a blue Stone Warrior called Granitor from the arcade game, and the 1987 series, if I recall correctly. He had a bird-like face and stood taller than Traag... Why isn't this character mentionned anywhere? --Dez26 02:16, 14 September 2006 (UTC)
- Because no one tought of him until you reminded us. Feel free to add him to the list. -- Ritchy 02:31, 14 September 2006 (UTC)
Aska?
editWhy is this character included in the list? She doesn't appear in any of the 7 major TMNT incarnations. In fact, she's only in a single videogame. The article states that only appearances count, not brief mentionings or references. From browsing the list, all characters listed have had some significant contribution to one or more of the 7 TMNT worlds. I really don't think Aska deserves to be on this list. If the videogames were counted as the 8th incarnation, then I can understand her inclusion. Otherwise, she seems very out of place. Ninja kid21 22:14, 21 September 2006 (UTC)
- Well, according to what's written, she's apparently got some kind of fan following, so 'that's' probably cause for significance. And technically, doesn't a video game appearance count as an appearance? 72.72.200.21 23:26, 21 September 2006 (UTC)
- Ya, I've noticed that she's got a cult following, and I can understand why when you see her in action. =) I do count being in a videogame as an appearance, but I'm only questioning her inclusion on the list because the article refers to the cartoons, comics, movies, and the Next Mutation. There's no mention of the videogames on that list, so Aska looks out of place. If you check the table, she's got red no's accross the board, which makes her seem like she's played no role in the TMNT world. I think the character list would be more organized if the videogames were included, or if Aska were dropped. However, I'd like to know how others feel about this, or if there are any other suggestions. Ninja kid21 23:47, 21 September 2006 (UTC)
- Her having a cult following doesn't justify her being in the list. The real question is whether characters who only appear in videogames should be included. I think they should. After all, the videogames are part of the TMNT franchise, even if they are not part of the canon universe. The Image comics and Next Mutation are also not part of the canon, and they are included. Plus, most of the more detailed character pages include a description of that character's appearance in videogames. So I say we should add a "videogame" column to the table.
By the way, Aska is not the only videogame-only character in the list. Slashuur also only appeared in videogames. I see that in the table he is incorrectly listed as having appeared in one of the series. I'll correct that, and add the new column when I have time. -- Ritchy 01:48, 22 September 2006 (UTC) - I added the videogame column. There are a lot of unknowns, as I've never played the games based on the new series. I hope someone who's more familiar with them can fill in the missing information. -- Ritchy 03:11, 22 September 2006 (UTC)

- Great work! The list looks much more comprehensive. Off the top of my head, I know for sure that Hun was in the newest videogames. I'm not so sure about the other characters, since I haven't been able to play through all of the games. I'll edit the table to add Hun's videogame appearance. Ninja kid21 15:33, 22 September 2006 (UTC)
- I just realized that Professor Honeycutt (AKA Fugitoid) was also in the videogames. Fixed that as well. Ninja kid21 15:36, 22 September 2006 (UTC)
Movies
editIt now appears that TMNT (2007 film) will follow the continuity of the other movies (or at least the 1st and 2nd), and will not be the start of a new TMNT continuity. Therefore, I will merge its column with the movie column. -- Ritchy 19:04, 3 December 2006 (UTC)
Just to Point Out...
editI've noticed that there seems to be more emphasis on the animated counterparts of such characters as General Blanque and Lord Simultaneous instead of they're original comic counterparts, the same can be said for the organisations article, more specificaly the Triceraton section. I've considered adding information, but to do this I would need to overhaul the sections somewhat. -- Lord Crayak
- Well the cartoon series is currently ongoing, and better known than the comics. It's only natural that people would have more information to add about the cartoon version of the characters. But by all means, add information about the comics, and overhaul sections when necessary. Also, if some character descriptions grow very long, feel free to move them to independant pages. -- Ritchy 15:50, 22 January 2007 (UTC)
Robots
editRight now, we have this page for TMNT characters, and that one for TMNT robots. However, I see a growing number of robots being included in this page, in large part thanks to the Fast Forward season of the current show, which introduced a number of robot characters (Serling and Constable Biggles are good examples). The recent addition of MetalHead to this page, even though it already is in the robot page, got me wondering: should we merge both pages?
The way I see it, several of the robots from the TMNT robot page could be included here (Chrome Dome, Metalhead, Turtlebot and Turtle Terminator). The robot teams (Domemoids, Mouser and Roadkill Rodney) could be included either in the TMNT organisation pages or in this one. The Footmech could go in the Foot Clan page, and the Turtle X would go in Cody Jones' page. Does that sound like a good idea to everyone? The alternative would be to take all the robot characters from this page and move them to the TMNT robot page, which I'm starting to feel would introduce an unnecessary distinction. -- Ritchy 16:59, 9 March 2007 (UTC)
I think it was ill-advised to delete the page without copying the articles here first. Probably the best solution would be to keep everything on the same page but add sub headings for different groups. Then if one section got too big it could be split of into its own page with a minimum of fuss. Now could someone pleas resurrect the mouser article, I’m trying to do some research here?--Teletran (talk) 13:47, 18 September 2008 (UTC)
Categorisation of characters
editThis page is looking a bit untidy to me at the moment, so I was thinking; we could add sub-categories such as, humans, mutants, robots and aliens. This would give more structure to the page and elevate such controversy as we have recently had with the Robots page. In addition to this we could where applicable use a character data template to give additional information such as a character’s publication history aliases and group affiliations if any.--Teletran (talk) 11:16, 2 October 2008 (UTC)
Usagi Yojimbo
editI failed to see him mentioned anywhere, I understand that he was a separate character from a different comic but he did appear in comics and in the Original Cartoon. At the very least it should link to his wikipedia article. Usagi Yojimbo
Xhadow 17:38, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
- I agree. I came here today specifically trying to remember specifics of this character and was amazed to find him not listed considering he appeared in the comics and both animated shows.
- KatzztaK 23:15, 14 March 2007 (UTC)
- Usagi Yojimbo, Gen, Panda Khan, and Cerebus all come from other comics. They really don't belong here as they are not TMNT characters. I can see how some people would be confused, though. Evan1975 02:58, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
- As the article itself says, "This list is of appearances, a brief mentioning or reference is not counted." Even though these characters are not exclusive to TMNT, they still appeared, and in the case of Usagi Yojimbo, multiple times. I'm not saying they deserve a full blown article, a simple reference explaining their appearance and a link to their main article would suffice.
- KatzztaK 15:58, 16 March 2007 (UTC)
- I don't care either way, man. Evan1975 04:16, 25 March 2007 (UTC)
Lost Season "Spoilers"?
editI noticed that my Spoiler Tags regarding info on TMNT 2003's Lost Season have been eliminated. Given its unaired-in-America status and the fact that most people haven't seen these episodes, I fail to see how labelling information regarding it as Spoilers is "unnecessary", at least during the first month or so (most of the Season only became available this week). I certainly know I'd be pissed to inadvertenly find out the fate of a character just because I chose to wait to see the episodes.

- I am the one who removed the spoiler tags. My main issue was maintaining uniformity in the page. None of the other characters have spoiler tags, not even those who appear in the on-going Fast Forward season of the show. I simply didn't think it was necessary to put spoiler tags at all. Though I'm starting to fell it's not that good a reason, especially given the quantity of editing we'd need to do before all the character entries are standard and uniform. You can put them back in if you feel they are necessary. -- Ritchy 22:53, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
Carter's transformation
editWhat the heck is "a giant anime-like creature"? A walking TV series? An animated DVD boxset? He causes people to argue over whether dubs or subs are better? It makes no sense! -masa ♫ 19:35, 2 April 2007 (UTC)
Making a smaller, leaner page
editGiven the amount of new entries and how incomplete the list still is, I think this entry is in danger of becoming (if it hasn't already) far too unwieldly.
Suggestions? The only thing that currently occurs to me (aside from a significant purge of the more minor characters) is to split the list by incarnations (Mirage, Movies, 2003, etc.), and linking each smaller list to each incarnation's specific page. The now-separated table could remain as a master table uniting all characters. Mayor character appearing in more than one incarnation (the turtles, Karai, The Rat King) could remain as they are, while minor duplicate characters (Zippy Lad, Raptarr, Nobody) can be duplicated (albeit with information specific to each incarnation) with little trouble or bandwith usage. However, I fear the whole thing would be a massive undertaking, with much room for error, particularly given how undeveloped the separate entries for each incarnation are--I'm certainly open to other ideas.
Ian
69.89.37.185 01:37, 11 April 2007 (UTC)
- I would be for that. Perhaps it would be best to separate characters based on series. The list has definitely grown because of minor characters and it would be better to just have them separate. I also think it will be better for visitors when it comes to a minor character that has appeared in different series.
- Inner City Blues 03:16, 11 April 2007 (UTC)
- I disagree. I believe that, when someone is searching for information on a given character in a given series, it is more relevant to them to also find information about that character in other series, rather than information about other characters in that series. In other words, bios of characters that appeared in multiple series should be kept together, not split on different pages to be together with bios of other characters from the same series.
If we need to split the page because it is becoming too big to handle, I'd recommmend rather splitting it alphabetically, as is the case, for example, for the List of Star Trek planets. This would accomplish the immediate goal of making the pages smaller and easier to manage, and would keep the bios of multiple-appearance characters unified. But in addition, it would be a much easier split to accomplish, and one much less likely to lead to errors. And it would allow future splitting - indeed, as the number of characters in on-going series continue to grow, we may reach a point where series-specific pages also become too big and unwieldly. But they are not dividable. With alphabetical divisions, the pages can be split endlessly. -- Ritchy 04:29, 11 April 2007 (UTC)
- Yeah, that sounds better. All we would need then, is to start doing it.

Someone tell me when we settled for delete all pictures and most relevent content. First you bunch up characters who you feel aren't important enough for their own pages, then you complain that there's too much information on one page. What the heck?

Ninja Tribunal, Acolytes, and spelling
editSince we've apparently begun adding members of the Ninja Tribunal to the list (with Juto), I have to ask: has any standard spelling for their names been determined. Is "Shisho" a last name (as is the entry), or an honorific, like "San" or "Sensei", as seems to be implied during the season? How is the word supposed to be spelled? The person who added Juto spelled it as "Shishou", which...doesn't seem right. Likewise, I've also seen Chikara refered to as "Chikara'Shisho". Is there someone fluent in Japanese who could help here?
Likewise, with the Acolytes, I think it'd be good to make sure we have the correct names before we begin adding them. While it's easy with characters like Tora Yoshida and Adam (who sadly, I don't recall getting a last name), it becomes a bit harder with Faragi and Joy, whose names seem to be pronounced different with each character that says it--is it Renard, or Reneau? Faragi or Farachi?

- Well I haven't seen the episodes, but it's my understanding that they are only available on DVD. So whoever has added the info can easily turn on the subtitles on the episodes and see the correct spelling of the names when the characters are introduced. That would at least settle that issue. -- Ritchy 03:30, 17 April 2007 (UTC)

Nightmares Recycled- Say what?
editOk, "Nightmares Recycled" wasn't made because it was decided the subject matter wasn't suitable for children.
Let's see: In this show, Shredder gets decapitated (even though it isn't his real head), Baxter Stockman gets an eye put out, an arm chopped off, and his back broken, a Purple Dragon member is killed by Shredder, I could go on and on...
and this episode wasn't made because it would have had subject matter not suitable for children.
...Ok...

Some major characters removed
editI just removed the Turtle Team, April, Casey, etc from this list, as they have their own articles that can be found just by clicking in the 'related' list.
- While I understand what you're trying to do, some of the characters (Baxter Stockman, Karai, The Rat King, Bebop and Rocksteady, Lord Dregg, etc.) left behind in the current simply do not qualify as "less important"--heck, an argument can be made for Karai being more important than the Shredder himself. As it is now, the list merely looks wishy-washy and inconsistent. Ideas?
- Ian (65.218.145.11 13:48, 22 July 2007 (UTC))
- If you're removing major characters, the article should be renamed something like List of minor Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles characters. Evan1975 19:11, 5 August 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:BloodsuckerTMNT.jpg
editImage:BloodsuckerTMNT.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
The size o.O
editThese article is entirely too long. There needs to be major characters only. I request that editors who are familiar with the subject matter remove entries whose subjects are not as important. I have no knowledge of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, so I don't know. If someone who kows doesn't remove them, I will eventually do it myself, and may not remove according to importance within the series. seresin (talk) 23:30, 17 December 2007 (UTC)

- I respectfully disagree. I think the article should simply be split alphabetically into smaller lists (like A-E, F-J, etc.) as minor characters sometimes grow into larger characters and sometimes have more interest and material than major ones. Benjiboi 21:09, 10 January 2008 (UTC)

- Unless there is someone who is pretty knowledgeable about the series, I don't think you should mess with it. However, it would be a good idea to split the lists into List of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles antagonists and List of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles protagonists. However, since there is already Category:Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles characters, this list can be shortened by just redirecting all of the characters with pages to those pages and only keeping the entries for article-less characters. Clean-up
editThis article is in real need of chainsaw. I edited out some of the original research and weasel words that were plaguing some of the character descriptions, but the real problem is that most of this article is filled with nothing but thinly-disguised character-centric episode/issue guides of the series (like Slash's and Dr. Chaplin's). I know the TMNT franchise has numerous canons (the Mirage and Archie comics, both animated series, the movies, ect.) and most of them have common characters, but that doesn't mean we have to list every single character from every single piece of TMNT. Especially when they've only been in one video game or one film.
I suggest to divide this article into sections depending on the character's original appearance (i.e: introduced in the Mirage Comics series, introduced in the 1987 animated series, introduced in the film, ect.). Jonny2x4 (talk) 04:03, 29 June 2009 (UTC)
- I'm working on removing the issue and episode lists. It makes the article into a directory, which Wikipedia is not, and they also contribute in making the article obnoxiously long. --Onore Baka Sama (talk) 09:12, 19 December 2009 (UTC)
- I would seriously seperate the characters into their individual universes. I would start chronologically, so that the comic characters are ALL listed first (even if they were introduced last year). After that I would do the 1987 series. Then the movies. Finally the later series. I came here personally for the older material, but I'm sure plenty of younger people come for the newer stuff. It's confusing to me, as I don't know or recognize the majority of the characters. If they were grouped together, then I might be able to understand it better.
- Grouping them alphabetically does nothing to keep similar stories and characters together. While it is the simplest fix for someone who knows nothing about the characters, it serves very little purpose in organizing the characters logically. They could be grouped alphabetically within each universe, but even then, it might be better to further categorize them first. For example you could have header1 be the universe, header2 be the alignment (good, bad, neutral) and then group them alphabetically or chronologically. - Good plan, my good sir. However, I think it would probably be best to separate the article itself, as currently it is nearing 200KB in size, and Wikipedia says that articles over 32(?)KB should be the limit before one should consider splitting an article. I would suggest making this page a disambiguation page, listing the different lists of supporting characters from various universes.
I also think that there should be a strict limit and warning on this page as to not make this an exhaustive list of every single character that appears in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles; there is an external wiki for this and most of these characters are non-notable. --Onore Baka Sama (talk) 18:56, 8 February 2010 (UTC)

Silver
editI just thought I'd mention that the statement that "Silver is the last Yeti" within the continuity of "Ninja Turtles: The Next Mutation" show is now questionable if you take into account the Power Rangers universe as being part of that continuity (due to the "Power Rangers: In Space" cross-over episode). This is because in "Power Rangers: Operation Overdrive" a supporting character named Norg (who is also a Yeti) was introduced. This might not seem like a big deal as they are two completely different seasons/teams of Rangers which seems like they could be easily ruled out as a seperate continuity (like the multiple TMNT shows for example), except that all "Power Ranger" seasons have on multiple occassions been said/proven to take place within the same universe/continuity. In fact, "Power Rangers: In Space" and "Power Rangers: Operation Overdrive" can be directly connected by two characters that have briefly appeared in both seasons, Alpha 6 and Adam Park (who was the second Mighty Morphin Black Ranger, the Zeo Green Ranger, and first Turbo Green Ranger). 172.190.37.160 (talk) 10:57, 27 July 2009 (UTC)
"Rida"
editThe section read as "Leonardo's feline girlfriend and love interest, who lives in Chinese Atlantis in China. Her design was based on Master Viper from Kung fu Panda movie. She dresses unusually compared to the other characters in the series, and wearing clothing in the style of Nekeeta from Super Robot Monkey Team Hyperforce Go. She wears her white dress in the style of Ella from Happily N'Ever After."
Aside from the exceedingly dubious description, this smacks of someone inserting their own fan character into the article, especially since several Google searches turned up absolutely zero relevant links. I've removed the section entirely, since there seems to be no evidence the character exists outside of this page. so sayeth Lucky Number 49 Yell at me! 14:06, 12 August 2009 (UTC)
There is no reason for this franchise to have two separate pages listing its characters. This list is the one that covers the entire franchise, so all the characters should be listed here. Merging in the remaining characters from the 1987 television series list will result in a page that will still be a reasonable size. As such, List of characters in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1987 TV series) should be merged here. Neelix (talk) 16:22, 24 June 2010 (UTC)
