Talk:List of State Register of Heritage Places in the City of Perth

Central Government Offices & Town Hall Precinct has been removed edit

@Calistemon: Central Government Offices & Town Hall Precinct seems to have been removed from the state register in July 2021. I think you should update the numbers in the article's lead as when I looked at the references there, the numbers had actually increased! You would know more about those numbers than me.

Also, do you think there is scope for listing delisted heritage places or not? Steelkamp (talk) 07:29, 18 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

For a start it should not be removed but indicated as a former/dropped item, also

without a good WP:RS - just because something appears to have been dropped from a list

is inadequate. As it is a relatively low number of properties that are delisted (if that is indeed the case) they need to be either kept in the list, the reasons for delisting also need to be tracked down - otherwise there is a black hole. JarrahTree 07:49, 18 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

@Steelkamp and JarrahTree: Yes, the entry does state delisted on 1 July 2021 but the two child places, Perth Town Hall and Central Government Offices still remain state heritage listed and nothing changes for them, as far as I can see. This overlapping with Parent and Child places doesn't seem uncommon and this delisting of the parent place actually may make it less confusing. Removing it is quite ok in this case, I think. I don't know why it was delisted but it might have something to do with the David Malcolm Justice Centre which is right in the middle of the precinct. As you've said, the two child places are still listed. With regards to reliable sources, the inHerit entry says it was delisted on 1 July 2021. Steelkamp (talk) 08:05, 18 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
But that is hardly an independent explanation of what happened and why JarrahTree 11:41, 19 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
