Talk:List of Springfield Elementary School students

Latest comment: 15 years ago by Someformofhuman in topic removing all images in the article

In an effort to clean up the drifting tenses, ambiguities, and minor grammatical details, specifically in the "Allison Taylor" section, I was quickly thwarted with the admonition that the "rest of the page is like that", (so why should this section be corrected?). My reason for making these minor (and I sincerely believe, helpful) corrections is that, when I use a reference resource, such as an encyclopedia, it reinforces credibility when the text is not rife with errors. Some of us Wikipedia editors are Grammar & Spelling nitpickers. All Wikipedia editors should be Grammar & Spelling nitpickers, because otherwise we are simply left with amateurish text.--Son of Somebody 02:14, 17 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

There is a lot I would love to say to you, but can't due to the NPA policy. But, yes, I do care about grammer & spelling, but you were changing it to present tense, while leaving other past tense parts of that section and the entire page alone. Either rewrite the entire page so that it's in present tense, or let well enough alone. -- Scorpion 03:31, 17 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
Since you won't allow corrections, and since you care, it's up to you.--Son of Somebody 05:27, 17 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
I thought so. I'll allow corrections, just do the entire article. -- Scorpion 13:15, 17 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

I'm a little confused... edit

Why is there a section titled "Girl bullies" when there are clearly several boys listed under it. Unless someone screwed up and unintentionally made "Girl bullies" an entirely new section. That's what I'm thinking happened, but I'm not 100% sure. But since this talk page looks pretty inactive, I'll just go ahead and change it right now and see if anyone chimes in on my wrong-ness. --Foot Dragoon 09:46, 9 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:5F20.jpg edit

Image:5F20.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 06:01, 5 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

History Archiving edit

The Simpsons/Sherrie and Terrie & The Simpsons/Jimbo Jones were two redirects to this article that were successfully nominated for deletion. However, the pages previously had content that had been merged. As such, they have been moved to Talk:List of Springfield Elementary School students/Sherrie and Terrie & Talk:List of Springfield Elementary School students/Jimbo Jones respectively to maintain the history for GFDL reasons. -- JLaTondre 13:40, 4 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Pencil accident edit

On Wendell's section there's mention of an accident with a pencil. Is this referring to the THOH episode where the teachers became cannibals? And actually I doubt that they would eat him what with all the vomitting and all.203.53.167.180 01:26, 11 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Since this refers to Wendell, I fixed an inconsistency in his profile saying he resembled "Ed, Edd, and Eddy"'s Jimmy. I reversed this since Wendell appeared first. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.3.193.95 (talk) 01:40, 6 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Dolph edit

I'm not sure if it's a vandal or a joke but I was reading Dolph's bio to check if it mentions he's Jewish like Krusty, his rabbi father, and Old Jewish Man (Grampa Abraham and Jasper's friend). However, the bio also stated that he was of "Mursian descent", an African tribe. He can be of Ashkenazi German or Russian descent or Sephardic Spanish, Portuguese, or Berber descent. But there's no way he's of Sub-Saharahan African descent. I looked up "Mursi" and "Mursian" in the Simpsons Archive. There's no mention he's of African descent. --Pilot expert (talk) 00:37, 20 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Lewis edit

I think that Lewis should have an image. Can someone try to upload the one on The Simpsons Wiki ?

Sure, I'll upload an image of Lewis. I'll try to find the best frame that can describe his personality and about him in a single portrait. I never heard of Simpsons Wiki, but I'll just upload the way I always do to upload my character pictures on Wikipedia. You shouldn't worry about quality, as these images I cropped and uploaded are straight from DVD source without any form of video compression. (Apparently, I bought myself a 750GB external harddive just to house all my Simpsons Episodes :) Each episode takes up about 320mb of space.) So no worries.

removing all images in the article edit

This is rediculous. According to Hammersoft, and quoted :"rm fair use overuse of character images. See Wikipedia:NFC#Non-free_image_use_in_list_articles" Overuse? Neither link says a dime about the "overuse" of images. How do we define, "Overuse", rather than the fact that ALL the images were deleted intentionally? If there's any credit, delete some, leave some.

  • If you look at where I directed you, you'll see an entire section devoted to the use of images in "list of" articles. This is a "list of" article. In the guideline that I referenced, it notes limitations on the use of fair use images in articles such as this. You are welcome to debate this at WT:FUR. However, you should note this has been heavily debated before, with the resolution being the guideline that I referenced. Your opinion by itself is not enough to change this guideline. Seek consensus to change it at WT:FUR and then you can have all the fair use images on this you'd like to have. Until that time, the images go. I've reverted you. Thank you, --Hammersoft (talk) 02:18, 6 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
This morning I received alot of BOT orphaned messages in my talk page. I'm in school now and I'll just put it short and sweet... I am the owner of all the images and I yes, I strongly agree in removing them. In fact I don't really care less about the article and more over... I think what Hammersoft has pointed out is true. I'd say remove em' and read for 164.78.252.57, read, the, rules.
