Table

All the other "List of <Location> dinosaurs" have a little timeline...do you think maybe this one should have one as well? I would create one myself, but I'd have no idea how. 88.109.23.91 (talk) 20:00, 7 September 2010 (UTC)

Is there a reason why ichnogenera should not be included here?

I see that currently the criteria for inclusion say that genera must appear on List of dinosaurs, but there is also a separate List of dinosaur ichnogenera which includes things like dinosaurs known only from fossilized tracks. Is there an argument for excluding the latter from this list, or is this just because the "criteria for inclusion" was written before the ichnogenera were separated into their own article? (they originally did appear on the main list, the ichnogenera page was created following a discussion in September 2010 at Talk:List of dinosaurs#Ichnogenera) Wouldn't someone who came here to learn about South American dinosaurs be potentially interested in the fact that there may have been ankylosaurs like Ligabueichnium in S. America, despite the fact that no non-ichnogenera of ankylosaurs have been found there? Hypnosifl (talk) 22:14, 26 July 2011 (UTC)

• I think that ichnogenera need to be separate from the main list because they're based on a different class of evidence, and there's a genuine question with many ichnogenera about whether they can be reliably recognised as dinosaurian at all. But I would not object to expanding the inclusion criteria to include the list of dinosaur ichnogenera. I would want the table of ichnogenera to appear separately from and below the main list. I do want to hear J. Spencer's view though, because he puts a lot of work in maintaining these lists. (I do watch them all but J. Spencer always seems to get to them before me!)           • It'll take a little while but I'll get to work on looking through the entries on the ichnogenera page to find the continent each one was from, then I can add the appropriate ones to this page along with others like List of North American dinosaurs. Is there any wiki page that compiles a list of oogenera, though? I couldn't find one searching "list of dinosaur oogenera" on google, and it doesn't seem to be on the List of dinosaurs page.
