Why redirect?

If this page is intended to give an overview of the campus, perhaps each header should have a main article link ( such as {{main|Ryan Field}}) as opposed to just redirecting all of those pages here. It would allow for the most content and the expansion of the individual articles. As it is now, a ton of content is being lost, and there is no reason those main articles need to be removed. - AKeen 01:59, 7 August 2007 (UTC)

Look & feel

This is a really, really long list. Here's what I am doing/needs to get done: Madcoverboy 07:06, 7 August 2007 (UTC)

1. Only including named buildings. If it's an important building, there's a good change that NU already auctioned off the naming rights. I could definitely be wrong though. Done Madcoverboy 07:09, 7 August 2007 (UTC)
2. Create a lot of redirect pages pointing to the appropriate building sections (i.e. Alice Millar Chapel redirects to List of Northwestern University buildings#Alice Millar Chapel rather than employing the ugly list-section link ("List of Northwestern University buildings#Alice Millar Chapel").
3. Use the infobox building templates for every building. Populate them from archives, facilities, and other available data. For those buildings that are notable enough to warrant separate articles, these infoboxes should be transplanted to those articles as well.
4. Sorting the buildings based on primary use. I envision Academic, Libraries, Services, Religious, Athletic, Performance, Natural, Residences (just a link to the List of Northwestern University residences), and other. Obviously some buildings fall into grey areas between these divisions, but these can be deliberated on a case by case basis.
5. Using a shallow Table of Contents that only lists these primary use headers. A user arriving at this page would likeley be first redirected to the appropriate building anyway, but in any case, each primary use header section (Academics, Libraries, etc.) will also have a "grammatical list" at the top linking to navigate the building sections below it (i.e. "Libraries at NU include Deering, Mudd, and University")
6. It may come to pass that the lists for the Evanston and Chicago campuses should be split should this list become too long/onerous to update, but we'll cross that bridge if/when we get there.
7. The opening line for each building section should external-link to the appropriate Campus Map page in bold.
8. If a building is substantially notable and warrants a separate article, use the "main" tag directly under the heading to provide the link. This also raises a question of how much information should be mirrored between the two or how to summarize the longer articles into the list.
9. We need pictures!!!!
10. If several buildings/entities share an address, are essentially the same building, or substantially interconnected as to be undifferentiable (i.e., Combe & SPAC), how should this be addressed?

My thoughts

Regarding item 6 above: This page seems very long as it is, even with the amount of expansion we still need to do, so we should definitely separate the campuses after the Chicago portion has enough substance to stand on its own.

Regarding item 9: I'm on it. I've uploaded 11 pictures and counting; I'm going to try to get another shoot session in some time this week or next. Hopefully we'll have pictures for at least all of the Evanston buildings by the end of this academic year.

Regarding item 10: I think we should address this by using a single photo for the whole building, and combining all parts of the building into a single section.

Merge with Campus of Northwestern University

Just curious what others think: the Campus of Northwestern University article seems to be only half-completed and duplicates the information on this article. In addition, there haven't been any substantial edits to the text of that article since about 2010. Any objections to merging that article into this one? Leschnei (talk) 14:00, 9 March 2017 (UTC)

Article re-worked with tables

The article was incomplete and a bit out of date, so I looked at other university 'list' articles and decided to put most of the buildings into tables. I also added a list of the miscellaneous buildings, mostly houses, that I couldn't find much information for. There needs to be a good deal more work on the Chicago section.
