Series 3 summaries edit

I've removed episode summaries from series three which were against WP:COPYPASTE. When adding or updating series information we need to be creative in making our own version of the summary, while citing where we got the information from. Merely copying and pasting this information, even if citing it, infringes the copyright of the author of that site. ~~ Peteb16 (talk) 22:43, 12 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

Series 3 edit

There seems to be contradictions all over the place for what is exactly considered series 3. The BBC Media Centre would have us believe Mammy's Spell is episode 1 of 6 [1] as does hard copies of the Radio Times. Meanwhile the online version of the Radio Times and TV Now contradict this by saying it's 3 of 8, indicating that the two Christmas specials are the first two episodes series 3. Based on this I'm inclined to change this article (again) to reflect the online TV guide versions as this can be more easily verified. Does everyone else agree with this? ~~ Peteb16 (talk) 14:16, 20 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

Not sure which way around you are suggesting there. I would suggest the BBC version is the more authoritative version as they produce the programme. If you check here [2], they clearly separate the Christmas Specials as being distinct from Series 3. Craigthomas1 (talk) 18:53, 3 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Someone else changed it to merge the Christmas episodes with series 3. However, since then, I've been swayed further towards separating them again after seeing more guides that refer to Mammy's Spell as episode 1 and also actually watching the episode in which Winnie questions Agnes about why she's "talking to herself" in the pub instead of the kitchen, and Agnes replies "It's a new series, I thought I'd move it around a bit". ~~ Peteb16 (talk) 19:04, 3 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Overnight viewers edit

It seems a conflict has arisen regarding use of overnight viewers so I thought it best for us to discuss it here and come to a consensus. Personally I think the information is of no value when the consolidated figures have been released and added to the article. I'd much rather see more useful information here such as Irish or Australian viewing figures. ~~ Peteb16 (talk) 16:56, 7 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Overnight figures should be there, until BARB releases official figures. Once they have, the overnight figure should be removed. Bruno Russell (talk) 17:27, 9 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

Corrections edit

In Season 3 episode 6 'Mammy Swings' Mark supplies the kitchen not Buster as in episode 5 Mark said he would do the kitchen for her instead of Buster. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.9.43.75 (talk) 22:43, 6 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

Copyright violations edit

In these edits, I had to remove most of the episode summaries because they were copy/pasted, or closely paraphrased from other sources. I attempted to include in my edit summaries links to the potential source material. In a few instances I found similar or identical episode summaries at sites like this one, but it was unclear to me whether Wikipedia editors copied him, or vice-versa. It's also possible that he copied from the DVD summaries or something. I don't know. There were also a couple of summaries that look like they may have been copied from here, but looking at an archive of that website and comparing it to the edit history of the article, it was unclear who copied whom, so I left the summaries alone. Although given the rampant plagiarism at this article, it's probable that an editor copied from comedy.co.uk. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 18:33, 29 December 2015 (UTC)Reply

Not copyright. A lot of Episode summaries use those written by the BBC or the broadcaster. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.3.30.135 (talk) 19:53, 31 December 2015 (UTC)Reply
Yes, copyrighted. All prose is presumed to be copyrighted simply by virtue of being created. Have you never heard of the Berne Convention? You should probably read the first four paragraphs of WP:COPYVIO. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 22:08, 2 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

RTE Season edit

Shouldn't the 7 episode RTE season be added?
(Even as Season 0.)
After all, it exists, even if a few stories repeat in the BBC version. - Tallaussiebloke (talk) 05:42, 28 December 2016 (UTC)Reply

Copyright violations again edit

In these 13 edits I again removed plot summaries that were stolen from other sites. This is unacceptable. All plot summaries must be written from scratch in your own words, not copied or even closely paraphrased from other sources. If this is not something you are capable of accomplishing, don't attempt it. Continued copyright violations will result in the article being locked up, which seems a shame for something so preventable. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 18:04, 6 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for sorting this! ~~ Peteb16 (talk) 00:50, 7 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

the 2022-2023 specials weren't added. edit

I've noticed that the 2022-2023 Specials weren't added to the page, even though the 2022 Christmas Special was already broadcasted yesterday and nobody even wrote a plot about it yet or the 2023 New Year special. Can anyone sort one out? thanks! BlueReturns (talk) 13:23, 26 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

The BBC iPlayer broadcast edit

As noticed for Series 4 episodes that after the first episode's broadcast, it said that the 3 episodes are available on BBC iPlayer quite early on the same day prior to the TV broadcast... which is strange considering it's the first time that the BBC has done this to the show itself and i have added it just for explanatory. I hope everyone on the page will understand and notice it like myself, thanks again. BlueReturns (talk) 17:37, 13 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
