A list of Flags

edit

I would like to put the flags in a list rather than a flags gallery. — Blue 04:01, 15 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

State Coat of arms

edit

Adding the states coat of arms into the States list sounds good too, since they don't have a list of their own. — Blue 09:26, 15 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

There we go! The article looks all spiffy now. I'll add more description and dates soon. This is my way of showing my love and patriotism for my beloved country, come this 50th independence day celebration! — Blue 09:11, 16 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
Good job Bluerfn! Yeah, it looks nice. Coat of Arms are not flags, I don't think it's appropriate for the title, unless we want to change it to List of Malaysian flags and coat of arms. --Zack2007 10:57, 16 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
Hoho, terima kasih. I know the Coat of Arms are out of place, but I thought it could be related to the flags, and I referred to the List of Japanese flags since it had Mon symbols in their Prefectural list. I'd rather it stay the present title, or better yet, create a special page which is Coat of Arms of Malaysia, but I found that that title redirects to Emblem of Malaysia which is specialized for the Malaysian jata instead. — Blue 22:15, 16 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Article title

edit

The list look good but the content doesn't match the title. The title should be changed or created a list of Malaysian coats-of-arms.

Proposed Flag

edit

Although I think the editor who first wrote in and uploaded the controversial proposed flag had good faith, perhaps it shouldn't be given due weight to the article. Sources about the flag is vague at best; we have sources saying the opposition party had proposed the flag change with pamphlets, sources saying the opposition denies it, and the flag was made up by a group of youths with different views about the history of the country etc. The article is about historical and current officially used flags in Malaysia, and the debate surrounding the proposed flag is unlike the flag debates in Australia, New Zealand and Northern Ireland. I'm up to removing mention of the so-called proposed flag altogether, or is there another way to approach the issue? — Blue 14:41, 27 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

I agree. I can see why it was included, but I doubt it belongs here. It isn't currently a Malaysian flag, even if it did have the support of one of the parties, which apparently it doesn't. CMD (talk) 16:00, 27 November 2012 (UTC)Reply
True. There might be some interest in regards to the flag issue, but to present it here might be irrelevant. — Blue 03:07, 29 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

Malaccan Sultanate flag

edit

The flag of the Malaccan Sultanate (red swallowtail charged with black crescent) is purely reconstructed based on an old map, the Cantino planisphere. However, the same map drew the Ottoman flag with the same design and in a pennant shape, whereas the actual design a white charge and included a five-pointed star, and was also rectangular.

I don't think it is safe to claim that this flag is the actual flag of the Malaccan Sultanate, as there could be certain modifications done by the artist of the flag. EmpAhmadK (talk) 06:13, 29 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
