18xx style games are notable due to their lack of the typical elements of chance involved in large multi-player board games, such as dice throwing or the drawing of cards from a deck. Other than the initial seating order, the games evolve as a result of player decisions rather than randomness.

Also, they have spawned a sub industry of enthusiasts who modify and design their own games, which involves significant effort, and these mods are typically of a high production standard. Also there are tournaments and gatherings of enthusiasts in different parts of the world.

Also, notability would be relative, and even _tiddlywinks_ (for goodness sake) has a 2000+ word article.

For 1826 I would have said that it was based on 1856 rather than 1830. It includes loans, incremental company capitalisation and nationalisation, all of which are defining features of 1856, and are the main differences (other than the map) between 1856 and 1830. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.219.26.66 (talk) 14:33, 27 May 2008 (UTC)

Link targets

Should the redirects from the old articles for individual games target the list as a whole or the individual entries in the list? I'd think the latter, but they currently do the former. — Aldaron • T/C 17:56, 4 October 2007 (UTC)
