Talk:List of Harry Potter characters/Archive 2

Albus Potter, Scorpius Malfoy, et al

Should the children of the main characters be listed? From what I can see in the history, Albus Potter has often been added and removed, but Scorpius and Rose have been on the list pretty consistently. I don't think they should be included, since they only show up in the Epilogue and don't matter for the story. I've removed them for now, but either they all (Albus, James, Lily, Rose, Hugo, Scorpius) should be on there or they all shouldn't. What do other people think? rchard2scout (talk) 19:58, 28 April 2018 (UTC)

Albus and Scorpius are the main characters of the play (Cursed Child), in which Rose is a supporting characters and the others as I recall barely feature. The focus of this page as currently stated at the top is the books only, but perhaps it could be expanded now, given the play is promoted as part of the series with JKR's blessing. The only other major character introduced in the play ("Delphi Diggory") is currently not in the list either. Mezigue (talk) 17:46, 30 April 2018 (UTC)
I've got to admit that I'm extremely biased when it concerns Cursed Child, I consider it to be one of the worst HP fanfictions I've ever read (and I've read a lot of fanfiction!), so I personally think CC should be disregarded entirely, but I know I could be in the minority there. And of course my personal opinion is irrelevant when it concerns whether or not those characters are notable enough to be mentioned here. rchard2scout (talk) 19:57, 3 May 2018 (UTC)
Whether it is good or not is irrelevant! It is definitely notable but the question of whether to include it in this list is essentially an editorial one. Personally I reckon it makes sense, especially as there are only three or four characters to include, so it is hardly going to overload the page. Mezigue (talk) 21:45, 3 May 2018 (UTC)

Mrs Norris

Chaheel Riens why do you call her a minor character? She appears in multiple books and forwards the plot in multiple books. Also not sure why it's in the wrong place -- maybe better under 'M' instead? valereee (talk) 19:40, 14 January 2019 (UTC)

I call her a minor character because she is just that. There are many characters who feature in the books multiple times, but we do not list them all. The fact that her description is simply that she's a cat does not show any notability. Chaheel Riens (talk) 22:37, 14 January 2019 (UTC)
Totally willing to agree she's not just a cat. She's Filch's spy. Would that work for you? In just the first book she appears over a dozen times. valereee (talk) 01:07, 15 January 2019 (UTC)
No, still not notable. By "the wrong place" I mean she should appear - if anywhere - in Magical creatures in Harry Potter, but she's not worthy there either. Chaheel Riens (talk) 20:52, 15 January 2019 (UTC)
Well, I guess we'll have to see if someone else comes in to chime in. The IP who originally added the info thought she belonged in the list, and I agree with them. valereee (talk) 22:45, 15 January 2019 (UTC)

Inconsistent usage of – and -

I don't really have the time to edit it/don't really edit wikipedia but I thought someone should know about this: the - after character names isn't always the same character. For an example look at Rose Weasly. I noticed this when my regex didn't work properly on this page. 110.142.107.16 (talk) 09:42, 4 February 2020 (UTC) Midataur
