My insertion Adolf Kneser

edit

When i inserted Adolf Kneser, i did it totally manually: I inserted a carriage-return, an asterisk, blank, and the name in manually typed brackets. I hope that this was correct and did not disturb any kind of automated insertion process. --Himbeerbläuling (talk) 17:01, 28 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

Two more names (among others) are missing here: (Johann) Peter Gustav Lejeune Dirichlet, (in Germany usually his family name is regarded to initiate with the letter "D") and Ernst Kummer.--Himbeerbläuling (talk) 17:15, 28 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
Kurt Gödel was Austrian, not German.--Himbeerbläuling (talk) 19:44, 28 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
It is correct that Alexander Grothendieck is not mentioned in this list, because he and his family were persecuted by the german nazi regime, so germany has no justification to be proud on him. But the same might hold for Michael Artin - or does the wikipedia community have information that justifies making a difference? (I am from germany, and i am sad about it) --Himbeerbläuling (talk) 17:20, 29 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
More missing famous names: Friedrich Bessel   Gotthold Eisenstein    Fields medaillist Gerd Faltings    Helmut Hasse--Himbeerbläuling (talk) 14:39, 31 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
You include  John M. Sullivan (mathematician)   and   Preda Mihailescu,    who are not german citizens (as far as i know) and did not grow up in germany, but work in germany. If this is a rule, then  Sergio Albeverio, a Swiss citizen who worked in Germany nearly throughout his career,   should also be included. He is a very successful researcher (see https://scholar.google.de/scholar?hl=de&as_sdt=0%2C5&q=sergio+albeverio&oq=sergio+al), an a successful academic teacher, too (see https://www.genealogy.math.ndsu.nodak.edu/id.php?id=23869).
I am not sure wether it is correct to name Arnold Möller a mathematician and include him in this list. --Himbeerbläuling (talk) 17:07, 2 September 2020 (UTC)Reply

Each named mathematician is linked to a Wikipedia page. Since that is a page about a person, it must be well cited. Consequently we do not need references on this page. OrewaTel (talk) 02:44, 24 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
