IF5?
edit@WeatherWriter I'm a bit confused by the "IF5" thing, what exactly got upgraded? (My revision diff thing is broken so I can't see exactly what changed) Sir MemeGod ._. (talk - contribs - created articles) 04:49, 24 July 2024 (UTC)
- 1930 Italian tornado. I was scrolling social media and saw something about it being rated IF5 by ESSL. Sure enough, back in May 2024, ESSL changed the rating of it from F5 to IF5. The European Severe Weather Database doesn't even list "F5" with it anymore and only lists "IF5". The Weather Event Writer (Talk Page) 04:51, 24 July 2024 (UTC)

- It caught me off guard, but it really is official. Several ESSL meteorologists also mentioned it on Twitter ([1][2]), but yeah, the actual official database does list is as IF5 now, so we have our first IF5 tornado. The Weather Event Writer (Talk Page) 04:53, 24 July 2024 (UTC)

The 1924 Pilisvörösvár F4 tornado
editWhile redacting the [[List of tornadoes by width]], i found that the widest Hungarian tornado was suspected to be an F5, according to the ESSL, but rated as an F4 due to the estimated windspeeds of at least 343 km/h (213 mph). ESSL also provided several Hungarian sources, but i can't speak on Hungarian language. Алексеев Н. (talk) 15:21, 5 September 2024 (UTC)
