Sääminginsalo

It appears that the island Kerimäensaari, also called Samusalo or Sääminginsalo technically is not a true island. I therefore delete it. See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sääminginsalo.Antipoeten 10:56, 4 August 2007 (UTC)

Naxos or Naxos Island?

Barticus88, you have a point about the disambiguation. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WP:DPL Still, in a list like this I think consequence is more important. Then you would have to add "Island" to the names of all Greek islands. There are hundreds of Greek islands in this list, and in the larger list http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_islands_by_area I am not sure if anyone would do this work. Maybe a better point is to change the name of the article Naxos Island back to just Naxos? By the way, this problem applies to islands of many other countries. Antipoeten 11:09, 4 August 2007 (UTC)

Lake islands

The reason why lake islands are not included is mainly the large number of them, especially in Finland and Sweden. I decided to exclude all freshwater islands, also river islands (fluvial islands). I still decided to keep the largest lake island of Europe, which is Soisalo in Finland. Antipoeten 22:10, 23 September 2007 (UTC)

Rathlin Island

Guernsey

A contributor added Guernsey Island, which is fine. But the area (78 km2) is wrong, as it refers to the Bailiwick of Guernsey, which aslo includes other islands. The Bailiwick of Guernsey (French: Bailliage de Guernesey) is a British crown dependency in the English Channel off the coast of Normandy. As well as the island of Guernsey itself, it also includes Alderney, Sark, Herm, Jethou, Brecqhou, Burhou, Lihou and other islets. The area of Guernsey main island itself should be about 63 km2. Consituent country

Why is Scotland an autonomous region, and England a constituent country? Surely Scotand is a consituent of the United Kingdom? Septentrionalis PMAnderson 19:06, 14 February 2008 (UTC)

Azores Islands

The Azores Islands are clearly European islands (unlike Madeira and the Canary Islands). I will therefore add them, like I did on the page European islands by population.Antipoeten (talk) 02:04, 7 March 2009 (UTC)

Kotlin Island

The info listed here contradicts the main list of largest islands of the world.

TRNC - Edit request (Sept. 2012)

Now Cyprus has been taken away from the list. Justified in a way, because geographically it is in Asia. Though now #10 is missing and no one bothered to correct the numbers. 82.141.65.66 (talk) 22:17, 12 January 2013 (UTC)

Cyprus?

Cyprus is often considered to be a part of both Asia and Europe.
Though, strangely, only a small part of Turkey is considered to be in Europe. But, of course, Cyprus, which 300 kilometres from nearest European island, can be considered European? If so, then it should be mentioned which definition is used: geographical or political/cultural? Geographically, Cyprus is not part of Europe. As Europe article says, "usually considered part of Europe both culturally and politically", so it can be considered Asian in that sense also. 85.76.65.121 (talk) 07:50, 20 December 2016 (UTC)

Include Flevopolder?

This list page does not list any restrictions of the islands needing to be natural islands, so shouldn't the Flevopolder island be included in this list? That article does say it can be considered an island, and considering the fact it is only connected to the rest of the land via bridges and/or dams, it should be considered an island, right? Great Britain and United Kingdom

In my opinion, stating that Great Britain represent 73% of the state area of the United Kingdom is erroneous. That figure comes out of a ratio of the area of Great Britain to the sum of the areas of Great Britain and the whole of Ireland. The correct figure should come out of a ratio of the area of Great Britain to the sum of the areas of Great Britain and northern Ireland only.Ekisbares (talk) 22:07, 26 December 2020 (UTC)

The 73% figure does seem incorrect. The area of Great Britain is 209,331 km2 and the area of the United Kingdom is 242,495 km2, which works out at Great Britain making up 86% of the UK's total area. Cashew.wheel (talk) 14:50, 12 October 2022 (UTC)

Continuity

Should Guernsey and Jersey follow the same continuity format as the likes of Wales, England etc had to of Country (Region)? Probably should since they are just regions, but unsure how everyone feels since they are British Crown Dependencies, not directly part of the UK. Neon (Talk) 15:59, 21 February 2022 (UTC)
