Talk:List of English Heritage properties

Can anyone explain the sections here? Stanton Drew stone circles which is in the county of Somerset is listed under Bristol & Bath which isn't a county? Avon is a term still used by some organisations eg English Nature but I wouldn't have expected Stanton Drew to be anywhere apart from Somerset. — Rod ^talk 20:50, 28 July 2006 (UTC)

I suspect it is because the EH book lists it under Bristol and Bath, but puts the 'address' as Somerset. Personally I think it would be better if they were all listed under County, rather then the sometimes strange EH 'area' headings. Ben 21:42, 28 July 2006 (UTC)

I used the headings as per the English Heritage Handbook, this way I was able to make sure the list was complete. I personally think that the official English Heritage categorisation should be used in an Encyclopedia. This is not a tourist guide! Maybe it should say Somerset (see also Bristol & Bath)? I have completed my little sub-project on tidying up this page. The links should now either

(A) Point to the article.
(B) Point to a stub.
(C) Point to a more general article, which mentions the property.
(D) remain broken, where I cannot find a suitable article, and was hesitant to create a stub.

Avebury

I know that the EH handbook lists Avebury and it's asscoiated sites as EH properties, but in fact they are owned by the National Trust. EH lists them as they are part of the monuments archive (and probably to seem as if they do own it), but there is no EH prescence there. I only mention this because as Mortimercat says, this isn't a tourist guide and should reflect the actual situation. Regards Psychostevouk (talk) 13:36, 17 January 2008 (UTC)

Can anyone advise how I could get this list of EH properties in CSV format? Thanks! Matthewcock (talk) 16:09, 2 September 2021 (UTC)

It depends on exactly what information you need.
1 — You can obtain the exact information held in this article by copying the wikitext into a text editor, stripping out the text outside of the tables and then use search/replace to convert the tables into a form that can then be imported into a suitable spreadsheet program. Somewhat messy to do, but not too difficult.
2 — An alternative route would be to check the Historic England website - they do allow some of their data to be downloaded — GhostInTheMachine ^{talk to me} 18:26, 2 September 2021 (UTC)
