Rename

edit

I'm going to rename this to Dragon Ball movies since there were some made of the original series. Oberiko 16:38, 12 Nov 2004 (UTC)

---

I removed this line:

Movie 1 has Kuririn sucking ass and is surprised surprised by Son Gohan's existence, insinuating that he knew about him. In the Dragon Ball manga and the Dragon Ball Z TV series, Kuririn meets Gohan for the first time only hours before Son Goku is killed by Piccolo in order to defeat Raditz.

Because Kuririn did know about Goku before Dragonball Z series (then Piccolo kill Goku and Raditz). They trained together with Kame since kids in Dragonball series. SSPecter 2:40, 6 Nov 2004 (UTC)

That line is accurate. You are confusing Goku and Gohan. I will replace it. Gohan was never in the original Dragonball and first was introduced to Krillin, et. al. in the first episodes of DBZ. Since Movie 1 takes place *before* Dragon Ball Z, Krillin shouldn't find out about Gohan. JRP 14:07, 6 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

I suggest deleting the individual entries under plot-holes and controversy...

... and expanding specific details as far as errors to each film under their own entires. Having a general description at the top would be best. Agree? Papacha 10:58, 14 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

The bojack movie actuallt does fit in with the original DBZ timeline

No, it doesn't.--Atomic-Super-SuitWhat Have I Done?! 02:09, 11 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

The only movie that can perfectly fit into the canon storyline without any continuity problems is Bojack Unbound. This would take place after the Cell Games, and after Trunks returns to his own timeline to defeat # 17, # 18, and Cell. If Trunks were to defeat them, then come to our timeline to hang out for a bit and say that he's saved his own world, it's perfectly possible (remember that he was about to use the time machine when Cell showed up). There's nothing else going on during this time that could potentially conflict with the events. It doesn't seem all THAT long after the Cell Games, and everyone looks like they have their appropriate character designs. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.82.38.42 (talk) 19:53, 10 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Live Action Movie Info

edit

That is ALL fake and made up. The movie has NOTHING to do with the DBZ part of Dragon Ball, it's all about Dragon Ball. This link proves it. If it's not fixed to show sources for this alleged cover of the whole Saiyan Saga, then I'm gonna go and fill in what is really happening with this movie. --Goten X 20:24, 6 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Do it and put up your source. It should be enough. LanceHeart 02:53, 7 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Merge

The result was no merge into List of Dragon Ball films. smooth0707 (talk) 17:37, 9 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

None of the films seem to have any real production or reception information available, so the articles are mainly just large plot summaries. They should be cut down, and merged here in order to have a concise article that actually has a chance to establish notability. TTN (talk) 20:55, 16 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Eh, you DO know that I'm the only one who's aware of this, right? Well, I'm going have to object this for now, that is, unless you can pull a sandbox showing exactly what the page is gonna look like. I do admit it is a good idea to merge the films, just giving the release dates and giving a basic synopsis of the plot instead of just spoiling everything, right? ZeroGiga (Contact) 09:31, 19 December 2007 (UTC)Reply
We do not merge flims. OR are you going to suggest merging all the james bond stuff?Geni 11:53, 21 December 2007 (UTC)Reply
TTN, have you looked for any production or reception information? --Pixelface (talk) 13:51, 22 December 2007 (UTC)Reply
I oppose the idea of merging these films into one article. These are notable films. --Pixelface (talk) 08:51, 26 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

I strongly oppose your proposal to merge this article, TTN. Angie Y. (talk) 19:37, 22 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

I also strongly oppose the idea of merging the films into one massive, cluttered article. It would be way too hard to understand, and easy to get lost. Hucz (talk) 09:26, 23 December 2007 (UTC)Reply
Looks like everyone oppose the move for merge. So is it possible to remove the merge tags in the all the movie article?. --SkyWalker (talk) 08:27, 27 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
I also agree that it should stop. Angie Y. (talk) 17:50, 26 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

TV Specials Are Not Films!

edit

It seems like the TV specials have been added to this page for no apparent reason. Please note that they are NOT movies, but TV specials. These specials should be added to the episode lists because they are like double-length TV episodes and because they originally aired in Japan between episodes. I hope some people can agree with me since it clearly says "TV special" and not "film" or "movie." D4c3nt3n0 (talk) 22:23, 21 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

I agree, those belong in the appropriate series episode lists rather than there. I've moved all three. Want to check to make sure those are the airdates rather than the DVD release dates? -- AnmaFinotera (talk · contribs) 00:17, 22 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
Well, the specials were released only on DVD and never aired on TV in the US. Only Japan. This might change things, am I right? D4c3nt3n0 (talk) 00:38, 22 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
If so, then should have the Japanese airdate and DVD release date, and the headers adjusted accordingly :) -- AnmaFinotera (talk · contribs) 00:42, 22 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
Then that'll be good. Thanks for the help. D4c3nt3n0 (talk) 01:02, 22 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
No prob. -- AnmaFinotera (talk · contribs) 01:04, 22 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
Oh, and I think you screwed up on the Z page! D4c3nt3n0 (talk) 01:09, 22 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
You mean on the GT page? If so, then no, you messed up the template (the parameter is always FirstEngAirDate not matter what the date is. I fix that and presumed you meant to change the header and did so. Reverting that as vandalism was so completely inappropriate, words fail me. Also, again, please work on your tone - if you feel someone made an error, there are nicer ways to say it (and you should be sure of your facts before doing so). -- AnmaFinotera (talk · contribs) 01:12, 22 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
Oh, I was talking about the Dragon Ball Z list. I was only joking when I said screwed up, I would have said messed up if you were going to be offended by it. Again, so sorry about not being aware of using Twinkle! D4c3nt3n0 (talk) 01:21, 22 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
Alrighty. I correct that one's header too. -- AnmaFinotera (talk · contribs) 01:23, 22 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

SSJ3 Broli

edit

In the upcoming XBOX 360 and PlayStation 3 fighting game, "Dragon Ball: Raging Blast," Broli will have an unlockable Super Saiyan 3 transformation. I added this info after it was reverted. I cleaned up the statement, but it was again reverted. Why shouldn't this info be added? While it is rather irrelevant to the page (films), this particular section (Broli) should have this info since it is important and there really isn't anywhere else to add this. I know it is unsourced, (and a Jump scan from Japan or a GameStop online listing noting this transformation won't work for citations) but the official Japanese site has a little info on the new transformation. It isn't "trivial" since all of his other transformations are noted in his section. Any though? D4c3nt3n0 (talk) 16:49, 10 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

It should be noted in the game page, but not here as it isn't related to the films. If there is material in Broly's section here that is not from the films, feel free to clean that out. -- AnmaFinotera (talk · contribs) 16:53, 10 October 2009 (UTC)Reply
It is related to the page since he IS a film character. I understand your point of view, but this info should get noted. Broli doesn't have a section on the character page and only here. If we add a section on that page for him, can this info be added? D4c3nt3n0 (talk) 16:57, 10 October 2009 (UTC)Reply
He doesn't have a section on the character list because it was merged here per consensus as he is not a major character in the main series. The game information is very minor as he is already a minor character. Basically a note about a character in an adaptation of an adaptation of an adaptation...way too far down the line. -- AnmaFinotera (talk · contribs) 17:00, 10 October 2009 (UTC)Reply
I still think this info should be added, so I want more than just your opinion. Let's hear more people before continuing the discussion. D4c3nt3n0 (talk) 17:02, 10 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

To start I find it weird to listing unique characters in a list of films. I think that such information regarding the Super Saiyan transformation may be more suitable in the actual video game.Tintor2 (talk) 21:08, 11 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Yes, but it is info about the character. If you look up "Shenron" on the character list, it notes who plays him in video games. Don't say it's different since it is very similar to this case. D4c3nt3n0 (talk) 21:22, 11 October 2009 (UTC)Reply
But the point of this article is listing films and not characters. In a chapters or episode list, you won't find a list of characters.Tintor2 (talk) 22:50, 11 October 2009 (UTC)Reply
I understand that. As AnmaFinotera said earlier, Broli's section was merged here per consensus as he is not a major character in the main series. I don't know why they decided to stick him here, when the character page covers characters from ALL forms of the series (List of Dragon Ball characters, not List of Dragon Ball Characters in the Manga/Anime). It makes no sense, but like I said and gave an example of why it should be written, the info on SSJ3 Broli is important. D4c3nt3n0 (talk) 01:43, 12 October 2009 (UTC)Reply
If the info about such transformation (which needs a reliable source) were added, then it would also imply adding Broly's voice actors from such games. It would also probably fit into a legacy section from a film, but well, all the films are in need of some clean up. Still I think if Broly and Cooler's sections can't be added to the character list, then they should be removed from this list.Tintor2 (talk) 02:19, 12 October 2009 (UTC)Reply
Agreed. They had large roles in some films, so they should be added to the character list. D4c3nt3n0 (talk) 16:27, 12 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Seriously whoever thinks SS3 Brolli is relevant needs to realize, he has nothing to do with the movies at all, it would be irrational having info on him here. This section pertains to the movies, not some version of the character released for the games. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.134.102.136 (talk) 02:42, 11 November 2016 (UTC)Reply

Release Date issues

edit

The release dates for alot of the american films are incorrect. While the funimation dub for the first 3 dbz movies did come out in 2008 to my knowledge the release date for the original 1990 ocean dub version should be represented instead. Also the fact that movies 4-13 (with some exceptions) have been re-released on blu ray does not mean we should disregard their original release dates either. This style will mislead readers regarding the chronology of dragon ball releases in america. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.173.149.86 (talk) 03:43, 6 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

"American release"?

edit

It's nitpicky, but does this mean "US release" or "North American release" (the latter generally including Canada)? Contextually I'd say it's probably the latter, but then it's not really accurate to say "American" and it should be corrected. And even if it means "US release", the unambiguous wording would still probably be preferable. Hijiri 88 (やや) 11:52, 14 December 2015 (UTC)Reply

Agreed; should be changed to "North American release", seeing as all of the films and specials have been licensed by a company or companies that have distributing rights in both countries. ProKro (talk) 17:19, 14 December 2015 (UTC)Reply
Recommend this be clarified further. North American release or NA release can be the header, but those with U.S. theatrical release dates posted should be noted, for example, December 14, 2015 (U.S. theatrical) AngusWOOF (barksniff) 19:02, 14 December 2015 (UTC)Reply

Proposed merge with Dragon Ball Z (1995)

edit

Reads like a new row in the list DES (talk) 17:18, 22 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

Should be deleted, no movie exists under the title "Dragon Ball Z: Battle in the Two Worlds". Doesn't even seem to be an alternate translation of the title to one of the actual 1995 movies. Xfansd (talk) 18:24, 22 April 2017 (UTC)Reply
Could just turn it into a disambiguation page for Dragon Ball Z: Fusion Reborn and Dragon Ball Z: Wrath of the Dragon. —Farix (t | c) 22:37, 22 April 2017 (UTC)Reply
  • Delete. Could also be confused with the TV series broadcast in 1995 (season 8 or 9) or the final year of the manga. If it said (1995 film) instead then yes, perhaps dab, but (1995) is useless. Battle in the Two Worlds was concluded to be a hoax. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 18:26, 24 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

Source?

edit

Is there any sort of source for the line stating that the first seventeen Dragon Ball films do not fit in with the manga or anime timelines and are just alternate universe scenarios? I know it's true that they're blatantly not canonical to the manga, but the anime, I'm not so sure. Besides, I think this is a fairly important detail that does need sourcing, and I would very much like to see if there is an official explanation of some kind, especially since most of these plot holes that I think may be used to justify them not being canon to the anime (and manga, but like I said, there's already plenty of sources pointing out how these stories aren't canonical to the manga) could just be plot holes. Mess

edit

This list covers way too much, TV specials are not films and many would agree that OVA's are not either. And this articles does not have an table overview of the box office reception or critical reception like a film list should.★Trekker (talk) 01:49, 5 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

  • If I could give an alternative to this article I would say move it to List of Dragon Ball anime, remove the live action films (two out of three are not offical productions anyway) and add a section for the animated TV series and one for the web series to the top. That way the article has a clear focus and the title makes sense.★Trekker (talk) 02:03, 5 January 2019 (UTC)Reply
    • If no one opposes this I think I will go ahead and do it in a few days.★Trekker (talk) 11:05, 8 January 2019 (UTC)Reply
I'll go ahead and do it later today.★Trekker (talk) 11:50, 14 January 2019 (UTC)Reply
"Television specials" tend to be television films, with the only thing "special" about them being the hour of the original broadcast. OVAs are direct-to-video films. Dimadick (talk) 15:26, 14 January 2019 (UTC)Reply
Not at all. Those are things that westerners have made up that they try to aplicate to Japanese media. Don't do that.★Trekker (talk) 06:42, 15 January 2019 (UTC)Reply
The actual films and tv specials and OVAs have completly different production schedule. They are not "films" by any definition of the word.★Trekker (talk) 06:45, 15 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

Dragon Ball Daima

edit

In light of its announcement several weeks ago now, I feel it is appropriate to add Daima to this article somewhere. However, my understanding is that it is not yet clear whether it is to be a TV anime or a web series, so I'm unsure of where it should go. Does anyone have any thoughts?
