Taxonomy: For all marine species, Project Gastropods uses the taxonomy in the online database WoRMS. When starting a new article, do not use sources of taxonomic information that predate the 2017 revision for all gastropod groups ("Revised Classification, Nomenclator and Typification of Gastropod and Monoplacophoran Families" by Philippe Bouchet & Jean-Pierre Rocroi, Bernhard Hausdorf, Andrzej Kaim, Yasunori Kano, Alexander Nützel, Pavel Parkhaev, Michael Schrödl and Ellen E. Strong in Malacologia, 2017, 61(1–2): 1–526.) (can be dowloaded at Researchgate.net), substituting the previous classification of 2005 Taxonomy of the Gastropoda (Bouchet & Rocroi, 2005). If you need help with any aspect of an article, please leave a note at the Project talk page.

Is there a reason that next to every entry in the section "Nomina dubia" there appears the label nomen dubium? Due to the name of the section, one would assume the label is redundant. Removed, the names can be organized into columns which would be more manageable. -- llywrch (talk) 03:59, 17 August 2010 (UTC)Reply
I understand your point, but I think in this case the duplication may be warranted, to avoid any possible ambiguity. Invertzoo (talk) 13:22, 21 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Assuming that the database WoRMS ends up accepting a "new" classification of these Conus species into multiple different genera and even different families, possibly at some point in 2012 or 2013, this article will then most likely be unneeded, or will have to change its nature quite radically. 2015 and it hasn't happened. Yet some alternate representations have sneaked in (e.g. an Africonus). Any consistency needed? Biopics (talk) 21:50, 2 February 2015 (UTC)Reply
I'll let the experts decide (hi Susan! ...et al.) and then I am around to help any way you wish. :) Bunnies! Anna Frodesiak (talk) 04:56, 3 February 2015 (UTC)Reply
