Coronation of Mary I´s husband

Why wasn´t he crowned? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.18.26.24 (talk) 19:17, 19 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

Why begin in 1066?

edit

Is there any reason why the list only starts from 1066 (England) and even later in Scotland? Jan1nad (talk) 13:25, 7 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

I suppose the editors couldn't find dates of earlier coronations. Surtsicna (talk) 15:56, 7 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
Page Edward the Confessor#Early years gives "Edward was crowned at the cathedral of Winchester, the royal seat of the West Saxons on 3 April 1043.". There must be others. Jan1nad (talk) 09:25, 8 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

The form of coronation by the Archbishop of Canterbury was established by St. Dunstan at the coronation of Edgar with a crown he had made himself, but the incident which caused Dunstan to fall out with Eadwig, Edgar's brother & predecessor was at Eadwig's coronation & reference is made to an earlier crown. This may have been given as a gift to King Athelstan. Dunstan's crown was probably lost by King John in the Wash. 1066 is entirely arbitrary & was notable for the massacre of well-wishers outside Westminster Abbey. Coronation as King of France

edit

Also, Henry VI's coronation as King of France should obviously be excluded from the list, as it would belong to the List of coronations of French monarchs, just like his coronation as King of England wouldn't belong to the List of coronations of French monarchs. Crowns used

edit

The list is great. I like it because it is very detailed. Would it be possible to mention which crown was used for the coronation? For example, all the crowned monarchs (save for one, but I am not sure which one) + one consort (Anne Boleyn) were crowned with St. Edward's Crown; different crowns used for coronations of different queens consort (Crown of Mary of Modena used for consorts from Mary of Modena until Adelaide of Saxe-Meiningen, then Crown of Queen Adelaide, Crown of Queen Alexandra, Crown of Queen Mary, Crown of Queen Elizabeth, etc). Scotland

edit

Shouldn't someone list some who crowned the Kings of Scotland?--Queen Elizabeth II's Little Spy (talk) 07:01, 22 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

Edward VIII

edit

Although Ed VIII was not crowned, I think he should be included in the first few columns of the table. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.24.102.36 (talk) 13:44, 21 June 2012 (UTC)Reply

@86.24.102.36 If he was not actually crowned, then don't include him in a list of British coronations. It's rather simple really. It's not a list of monarchs - it's a lost of coronations. EditorPerson53 (talk) 13:52, 6 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

As we've included Edward VIII in the table, should we also include the other uncrowned monarchs - Edward V, and the disputed Matilda, Jane, and Margaret? Also, is there any reason why the Scottish monarchs prior to David I aren't included? Psunshine87 (talk) 08:04, 6 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

Date for Richard I

edit

Here it says that Richard I (the Lionheart) was coronated on 2 September 1189, but his article says 3 September. Which one is correct and could someone make them correspond? /Ludde23 Talk Contrib 23:50, 12 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Date of Edward III's accession

edit

This may be wrong, as according to the list of English Monarchs and the pages for Edward II/III, this is listed as January 25th. My limited knowledge of history means I can't be sure which version of the date is correct.
