Talk:List of Australian royal commissions

Appropriate referencing

edit

My understanding is that Royal Commissions are appropriately referenced by

  1. the name of the person appointed to head the inquiry, that is
    1. Stewart Royal Commission
  2. the topic of the inquiry
  3. the date the report was provided (or released)

This list needs expansion with these other details, also the logic of the current numbering is not clear to me. Paul foord 10:52, 31 December 2005 (UTC)Reply

Erm, aren't they numbered chronologically? Ambi 14:07, 31 December 2005 (UTC)Reply

Standard Referencing The commission itself is referred to in the same form as set out in the Letters Patent issued by the Governor General of Australia. The report produced will have a seperate title. The RCs are not numbered chronologically, or in any other format.

Standard referencing is

[Jurisdiciton], [Name of Royal Commission], [Title], ([year]).

Commonwealth of Australia, HIH Royal Commission, The failure of HIH Insurance, (2003)

The reference to Royal Commissions by the name of the Commissioner is common in the media, and the informal, or short form reference, eg the Owen's Royal Commission

I created this page from this list: [1], from the APH library. I adjusted the capitalisation on some of the ones which already had articles, but otherwise they appear as in that list. --bainer (talk) 07:20, 14 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

Pre-1902 royal commissions

edit

I was wondering what to do with a Royal Commission I've discovered that happened in 1882 [2] [3]. Do I put it a new section at the top of this list, or is there somewhere else? Witty Lama 10:28, 21 December 2010 (UTC)Reply
