Talk:List of Arnis systems and practitioners

Notability guidelines - What/who can or cannot be added to the list? edit

As many FMA systems are not well-documented outside of their respective regions or areas, there is often very little information on them from what are considered reliable sources under Wikipedia guidelines on who is considered a notable person or what is a notable system. Please click the links in the previous paragraph to read the guidelines.

As most books or articles on FMA are also self-published, this is a tricky subject to navigate in because under Wikipedia rules, normally these might not be considered as "unreliable sources" as they might not be objective. As such, I propose that even self-published books be accepted, as there is a shortage of material on FMA. I hope we can all have a dialogue about this so we can determine which systems "make the cut" on the list. -Object404 (talk) 07:19, 25 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

I would not worry too much about self published books. They may be strictly unreliable but they are a source for information. If the only source is an uber-flashy website we may have a problem. Any style should have either its own article or a reference - that is pretty much the standard for all lists of this type.Peter Rehse (talk) 09:16, 25 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

Sorting Systems/Forms/Styles vs Schools and Practitioners edit

Hi. The present list, as well as the organization of FMA articles on Wikipedia overall, is confusing. I propose several things:

  1. . Immediate - the sorting of this list into separate sections: one section for Systems/Forms/Styles, and a different section for Schools and Practitioners. Both lists should be sorted according to founding date. This will make the list less confusing.
  2. . After creating sections - that this page be split into a list of Arnis Systems/Forms/Styles, and a separate list of Arnis Schools and Practitioner. Both lists should be sorted according to founding date, and possibly a heirarchy based on key influences
  3. . After the initial cleanup - the creation of an FMA Navbox so that finding articles won't be so confusing.

Just my thoughts. I'm currently busy with Precolonial History articles but may get to work on this as a means of relaxing. But if someone wants to get started on it, that'd be great. - Alternativity (talk) 09:22, 21 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
