PG? edit

Last episodes I've watched have been rated 18+ can anyone verify? --156.34.90.77 16:55, 1 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Not always.... edit

...like that. Sometimes the ghostly entities and/or demons are far too powerful for laymen to throw out. 205.240.146.37 (talk) 20:20, 20 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

A few observations on the show.... edit

Well, while it IS true that there seems to be a sort-of pattern to a good number of the stories, I notice the ones I've watched thus far seem to have the same common point: inexperienced numbnuts kids futzing around with stuff they barely understand let alone are able to control... because they think it's 'cool', and with the attention span of a commercial break, don't bother to clean up after themselves properly when they think they were unsuccessful. Leaving an uncontrolled portal to who knows where, where who knows WHAT can come through and scare the living daylights out of Joe and Jane Homeowner.

A few facts I think should be mentioned, from a semi-experienced viewpoint: energy is energy, be it metaphysical or otherwise. So a lot of the same principles that govern how more mainstream methods of dealing with energy are handled, may have a counterpart in the metaphysical realm. In other words, it can be redirected, contained, or dispersed.

Also, simply banishing or otherwise vanquishing the problem that has come through, is only half the battle. I notice that what seems to drive the people out of their homes, is the simple fact that the portal itself... the doorway that INVITED the problem in the first place, was never sealed or otherwise closed. Which is plain stupid really, it's like getting rid of ants but leaving the same open container of sugar sitting on the counter inviting MORE ants to come on in, open invitation.

Thirdly, it strikes me just from plain common sense.... that any experienced person in the metaphysical field OUGHT to know the same sorts of rituals and suchlike that open these portals to begin with. And ought to have 3-D computer modeling software, apply forensic knowledge to a case. Take witnesses' statements, recreate the original scene as it's commonly found and use that information to extrapolate the possible rituals involved. Figure out how it was done, you can find a way to UN-do it. Just a thought......

Hello. What were those two extra episodes listed at the end of Season 4, "Dark Forces" and "Unnatural Powers" about an Alaskan haunting and a boy using psychic powers to protect his family from ghosts. They were listed there just a few days ago but disappeared this weekend (Dec21-2008). Were they fakes put in to fool us? I could have sworn I saw "Dark Forces" listed on my digital cables tv listings last weekend at AH's usual time but it might have been 'Dark Forest'. I spent a day looking for them on YouTube before I came back here and noticed they had been removed --tangcameo

A Real Possibility edit

The "true stories" featured in the serial might not be hoax but they might be result of group or family together drifting into their fantasy they have created...most of the episodes feature a family which faces the haunting...family members share a common world view and this may help in weaving a ghostly story around easily explainable physical events... ...and with help of para-psychologists(who puport to be real psychologists which they are not)and preists(whose world view exclusively focusses on devils and gods)the ghostly story is provided with anchor and a base..as wall as so called proofs that haunting was real —Preceding unsigned comment added by 117.201.48.48 (talk) 22:14, 26 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Opinions towards the factual accuracy of the show's events are not valid enough to merit a "dispute" tag atop this article. That tag is only reserved if the article has blatantly incorrect information, ex claiming all the episodes are based of plots from Ghost Busters or Anastasia (1997 film). The producers' claims that show is composed of "true stories" is explained in the main article. These accounts are taken directly from people, who claim they are true - leaving the audience to decide whether they are true or false. In essence, claiming they are "true stories" is an attempt to further sell the series (see producers comments). --  StarScream1007  ►Talk  23:09, 26 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
