editLino Taglapietra was not born on Murano but on Burano. The thing is that Lino was the first ever glass master in Murano who was not born on the island. The fact that Tagliapietra left the island to teach the secrets of Murano glass techniques over the world is considered by some Murano glass Masters as betrayal. Some like to call him the "Buranese" the guy from Burano. Generally he's considered as a man who made great publicity for Murano and Italian glass around the word. He's not a greater glass maestro then any other Murano maestros, maybe a greater teacher.
