Coins in the receiving vault

When one goes to the original tomb Lincoln was put in after his death, one can see a large number of coins on the floor of the vault. Has anyone else who's visited the Lincoln Tomb wondered about this? Is this some sort of good luck tradition or something else entirely? 15:26 26 July 2006

Cenotaph?

The 7 ton monument is located approximately over the burial vault. This DOES NOT make it a cenotaph. A cenotaph is placed where there is no body, this is a glaring error in the text.T.E. Goodwin 13:28, 12 February 2007 (UTC)

Lincoln's Nose

I heard that outside the tomb somewhere is a statue of Lincolns head and a lot of people rub its nose for good luck. I was at the tomb once but didn't see it. Should it be mentioned.Cedargang (talk) 22:04, 20 October 2008 (UTC)

I can confirm the rubbing of the nose for luck. I don't know how much weight that would pull in an encyclopedia but...it happens.UnbelievableError (talk) 09:47, 28 November 2011 (UTC)

Someone added a whole section called "Superstition" based on that, which I thought was some serious undue weight. Calling it "superstition" was also not mentioned in the source, it was an overly strong WP:OR conclusion for a tradition that's surely more "just plain fun" than some sort of serious attempt to gain good luck. Sword Thefts

When was Eddie moved?

Does anyone know when Eddie Lincoln's remains were moved to the tomb? Willie's were moved with the President's body in 1865, and Tad died in 1871, so he presumably was moved right away. Elsquared (talk) 04:12, 5 March 2015 (UTC)
