Merge to Antes people

edit

Merge with Antes people or clarify differences. If proved to be different, you should move the article to Limigantes. The current name is rather silly. See also Talk:Antes people#Limigantes = Antes?. Cheers! --Codrin.B (talk) 02:02, 10 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

No! The Limigantes have absolutely nothing to do with the Antes, a Sarmatian (later Slavic) group which ended up in Wallachia in the 6th century. Someone mistakenly linked the Limigantes to the Antes, which obliged me to invent the Limigantes (Iazyges serfs) title. Thus, this article should NOT be merged with Antes: the exact opposite should be done, that is the link of Limigantes to Antes should be terminated and this article should be renamed Limigantes. You can always "resurrect" a redirect by simply creating an article inside it. Right now, this is not following Wikipedia naming standards. I don't understand why you constantly ignore WP:MOS, WP:EDIT etc. Read them!--Codrin.B (talk) 20:43, 26 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

I think the proposal of merger should be deleted. The Limigantes and the Antes are two absolutely distinct peoples. Borsoka (talk) 17:33, 18 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

Absolutely, do not merge the articles! The Limigantes and Antes seem to be very distinct peoples. There is very little overlap between them, both in time and space. Just because a single Hungarian, Harmatta, proposed a common etymology for their name, this does not mean his proposal has been accepted by the historical community as a whole. Many of Harmatta's proposed etymologies are crackpot to say the least, and are really just ideas for discussion. Don't you dare merge the two articles! 79.162.253.39 (talk) 12:30, 11 May 2013 (UTC)woofgrrReply

Limigantes (Iazyges serfs)Limigantes – An inexperienced editor created this article instead of using Limigantes. Codrin.B (talk) 20:46, 26 January 2012 (UTC)Reply
