Fair use rationale for Image:Chorrillo.gif edit

Image:Chorrillo.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 20:17, 2 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Liga Panameña de FútbolPanamanian Football League – It seems like an appropriate, literal translation. MicroX (talk) 18:35, 31 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

Feel free to state your position on the renaming proposal by beginning a new line in this section with *'''Support''' or *'''Oppose''', then sign your comment with ~~~~. Since polling is not a substitute for discussion, please explain your reasons, taking into account Wikipedia's policy on article titles.
  • Oppose - we should not make up our own names just to have an English title. If used in English sources, we should use the article-title that is most common in English sources. If it isn't used in English sources, we should use the native name. The only English source I've found is soccerway, which uses "LPF" which might be an abbreviation of the current article-title. • Oppose per Mentoz; why are we giving a made-up name to something? GiantSnowman 10:35, 5 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

You are correct, the exact phrase Panamanian Football League will probably not be found in English sources since it is not given much interest by the international media. I was following the precedent set in some UEFA football league article where leagues were literally translated from their native language to English such as Welsh Premier League, Armenian Premier League, Israeli Premier League, Azerbaijan Premier League, Belarusian Premier League, Premier League of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Russian Football Premier League and Ukrainian Premier League. The literal translation of Football League of Panama would be Liga de Fútbol de Panamá. (I hope you don't mind me moving your comment to the discussion section) --MicroX (talk) 20:15, 31 July 2013 (UTC)Reply
Obviously panameña is an adjective, but a literal translation with the adjective "Panamanian" still sounds very odd to my ears - even after seeing the adjective "Armenian" "Belarusian" in the examples above. That English tourist website says "with Liga Panameña de Fútbol - the official football league of Panama" which seems a more natural English-sounding translation, to my ears at least. Or just leave it like Honduras and a few others in Category:National association football premier leagues. In ictu oculi (talk) 01:23, 1 August 2013 (UTC)Reply
