Older tunnel at same location? edit
In The Liffey in Dublin, J. W. de Courcy states that a tunnel "to accommodate a water main and a sewage-pumping main, with a footway for maintenance" was built "from Thorncastle Street in Ringsend to a point near the junction of North Wall Quay and East Wall Road" between 1926 and 1928. This tunnel was about the same length as the new one (250 metres) but deeper (33 metres) and was driven through rock under compressed air conditions. I was wondering whether this tunnel was still in use and whether it's worth amending the article to describe both tunnels or creating a new one for the older tunnel (which de Courcy refers to only as "Tunnel under the Liffey near Ringsend."
