Oldest regiment in the world?

edit

I am changing 'the world's oldest regiment still in existence' to 'one of the world's oldest regiment still in existence'

The Papal Swiss Guards of the Vatican, founded 1506, is fifteen years older. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 130.237.216.122 (talk) 12:14, 7 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

Well, the Swiss Guard is just a company, not a regiment. Reinforced company strength. So the question is what is a "regiment". 99.6.23.117 (talk) 16:49, 31 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Well. Wikipedia says a regiment is a military unit of between 3,000 and 5,000 often lead by a Colonel/Lieutenant Colonel or a General/Brigadier General 170.201.172.68 (talk) 00:47, 21 December 2010 (UTC)Reply
