Talk:Liar Liar GE2017

Should it be pointed out that there are good legal issues and not necessarily pure censorship involved, from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Party_political_broadcast "In the United Kingdom the Communications Act 2003 prohibits political advertising on television or radio; parties are instead allocated broadcast slots (usually around five minutes long) free of charge on broadcast channels using a formula set by Parliament."

Maybe something along the lines of "Due to regulations designed to give all parties fair advertising platform in the run up to elections, radio and TV stations may be unsure whether such a song could be considered political advertising which is illegal to broadcast in the UK outside of specific circumstances." — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ewanm89 (talkcontribs) 10:42, 30 May 2017 (UTC)Reply

Thanks, Ewenm89. That could well be the reason, but we can only add something to that effect if we can find a reliable secondary source that states this, and can be cited. Otherwise it would be seen as our own "original research". Regards, Esowteric+Talk 10:48, 30 May 2017 (UTC)Reply
I wonder if there's (say) an official government web site where such regulations are spelt out? Esowteric+Talk 10:51, 30 May 2017 (UTC)Reply
I think I can get a paragraph out of this from Ofcom. Esowteric+Talk 11:00, 30 May 2017 (UTC)Reply

Done I think that aspect is covered now. Thanks again.Esowteric+Talk 16:57, 31 May 2017 (UTC)Reply

Page for Captain SKA?

edit

Maybe someone could work on the page for the band Captain SKA themselves (currently a stub)?

The band's own web site and social media accounts use the name "Captain SKA", though many media articles use "Captain Ska". The band was also shown in the UK Singles Chart as "Captain SKA".

Maintaining a neutral point of view

edit

I know, it's tempting to call May a liar, accuse the BBC of censorship, or refer to Donald Trump's "tiny hands", but we need to put on our Wikipedian hats and maintain a neutral point of view. The sources speak for themselves. Regards, Esowteric+Talk 13:09, 4 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

Title of section on alleged censorship

edit

Following up on the previous comments here, I've re-titled the section to "airplay." That title is more descriptive of the contents contained in said section, and avoids the connotations aroused by the use the term "censorship." Indeed, the allegations of censorship by Captain SKA and the band's supporters are dealt with in a neutral fashion in the body of the section, but section title appears to editorialize more than it should. I'm not willing to edit war this point, but I strongly believe that the section, if it is titled "censorship" violates NPOV, specifically WP:POVNAMING. schetm (talk) 06:48, 4 February 2018 (UTC)Reply
