An anon changed the date the castle was "built" from 1087 to 1069. Which one's correct? Perhaps both (date building started, date completed)? Some sources, such as the Sussex Archaeological Society here, say buiding started "soon after 1066", but others, such as this, say building started in 1087.--A bit iffy (talk) 20:05, 28 February 2010 (UTC)Reply
Just to further muddy things, pastscape (run by English Heritage) says 1100. It seems like there's some uncertainty about the date building started, in which case it's fine to state that in the article. Simply state that sources differ on when the castle was founded (perhaps one will explain why this is). Nev1 (talk) 20:58, 28 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

Description and history of the castle should be expanded in order to justify a "B" class rating. A wider range of sources needs to be consulted. Monstrelet (talk) 12:02, 15 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
