Junk mail

edit

The article now states,

Boxes where junk mail is unwanted are typically marked with a suitable sign.
  1. Where is this practice followed? It isn't universal.
  2. I'd prefer that the link to Bulk mail went to Direct marketing instead, since most of the discussion of junk mail in the former article has been moved to the latter.

Thanks. Doctor Whom 22:15, 2 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Germany and Austria, for example. Austria has standardized labels "No mail without address"; if these are present, bulkmail won't be put in these boxes.

Thank you for your information. So, then, we're in agreement that that section the article as it now reads is of limited geographic scope. I'll edit it accordingly. Doctor Whom 16:54, 27 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

"Quonset hut on a stick"

edit

This quotation was taken from the NYT article, where there is no indication that it is meant to "excoriate" the standard design; on the contrary, the article is talking about the disdain for its then-new plastic replacements. I have therefore removed the line entirely. Mangoe (talk) 21:13, 16 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

External link in Recent developments section (Wall mounted post boxes) should be moved (an 'External links' section should also be created).

In my opinion, an 'External links' section should be created and the external link contained on an image caption for wall mounted post boxes on the 'Recent developments' section of the article should be moved to the 'External links' section of the article as in my opinion the 'External links' section would be a better place for the link instead of in its current location within the article. I removed the link. It was spam (advertising), and doesn't belong in an External links section either. Laterthanyouthink (talk) 10:59, 25 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
