I think we should not use this formulation. The city in which Spinner was born is NOW part of the Ukraine. When he was born there it was part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, and he regarded himself as a citizen of that Empire. Previously, and subsequently, it was part of Poland. Whatever Ukrainian claims on it existed in Spinner's lifetime, they were in no way decisive for his sense of nationality or identity. Cenedi (talk) 20:21, 3 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
