Dates of first marriage

edit

The box says his first marriage (to Josephine Tewson) ended in 1961; the text says that in 1962 he was still married to her. Which is right? PrivateSponge (talk) 10:23, 20 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

A word of caution

edit

Concerning recent additions, while there are not the same standards as with a living person, it does not mean people have carte blanche to include every bit of gossip that crops up.

A lot of names are being bandied about in the wake of the Jimmy Savile scandal, as is always the way with such high-profile cases, and we should be extremely wary of reproducing rumours here (even on talk pages).

I can think of few things to accuse somebody of worse than has been suggested by one editor here, and I'd suggest it would take a lot more than an anonymous source in the Sun to include it. If something comes of it, things may change, but if it remains as an isolated and unsubstantiated rumour it would set a very bad precedent to include it.

Whatever your views, please discuss contentious edits on talk first. BearAllen (talk) 10:22, 14 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

Agreed, WP:V and WP:UNDUE still apply after a person has died.--♦IanMacM♦ (talk to me) 11:29, 14 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

Entry into film

edit

It isn’t true that he "broke into film roles with Billy Liar” since he was in two prior films, including a more than trivial part in This Sporting Life. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.46.211.151 (talk) 01:00, 30 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

Ability at squash

edit

In a Guardian summary of LR's career on the 40th anniversary of his death, actor Neil Pearson is quoted as saying that he was at one time ranked the fourth best British amateur squash player. Of course this is not enough for a definitive entry to his page but it is worth following up. Cross Reference (talk) 18:46, 4 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
