First Amendment Audits, Summer 2018 edit

Consideration for adding to main article:

Eleven first amendment auditors filed a federal lawsuit against Leon Valley for violations of their civil rights. The auditors are Texas, Ohio, Illinois and Arizona residents. The lawsuit states that the Leon Valley Police illegally confiscated cell phones and cameras. It also alleges that the police used stun guns on bystanders, falsely arrested some, and broke one person's ribs over three days in June, 2018.

Leon Valley Police Chief Joseph Salvaggio stated that he legally confiscated the cell phones as there had been death threats against him and his family from Youtube viewers all over the world due to previous audits in Leon Valley and that he was attempting to collect evidence. Salvaggio admitted that on June 23rd he set up a fake press conference at city hall for the purpose of detaining auditors and confiscating their cell phones and cameras.

Salvaggio stated in an interview that civil rights auditors do what they do for financial gain and that they are all anarchists.

A first amendment audit was published on Youtube on June 16, 2018 by "The Battousi". The video was taken within the Leon Valley government building. The auditor went into the building while filming in order to file a complaint against a Leon Valley police officer. Two officers saw him filming and told him that he was trespassing and threatened him with arrest. The auditor asked to speak to a lieutenant when the Leon Valley police chief (Joseph Salvaggio) happened by and requested that the auditor step into the foyer. The auditor complied. The police chief told the auditor that no filming was allowed in the public areas of the courthouse, and that this policy had been approved by the district attorney, attorney general, and a judge.

The auditor filled out the complaint form in the foyer. He then requested an open records request form. Salvaggio informed him that it could be made on any piece of paper or by using a form available online. The auditor requested a receipt, but Salvaggio refused to provide one and instead held the auditor's request in front of the auditor's camera.

The auditor repeatedly asked for verification of the order that filming was not allowed anywhere in the building. The two officers and Salvaggio declined to provide any such documentation.
