The work of Lenore Thomas Straus continues in the lives of women worldwide. Straus was mentor (and guardian) to a young artist from Prince George's County, Maryland, Sue Hoya Sellars. Sellars studied painting, drawing and sculpting under her tutelage and other artists that were friends of Straus. Eventually Sellars was found placement with Straus's support to become the youngest head illustrator under the George Vanderbuilt Foundation.

Sellars, in later years was part of the founding of a movement of Intentional Creativity inspired by her work as well as that of Straus in painting, writing and thinking.

On June 6, 2015 Straus was honored with her first museum exhibit at the Greenbelt Museum in Maryland, which is home to several of her major works including under the New Deal including Mother and Child. The museum invited Sellars work to be a part of the show, demonstrating, in the words of Megan Searing Young, the show curator 'her enduring influence.'
