Talk:Leisure (band)

Latest comment: 3 years ago by Aubernas

Removed deletion notice- this band is being confused with an irrelevant one of the same name, an article about whom was deleted in 2006. This is about the popular New Zealand band with over a million monthly listeners on Spotify.

CONFUSION- THIS ARTICLE IS NOT ABOUT THE BAND OF THE SAME NAME FROM SOUTHHAMPTON. IT HAS BEEN TAGGED FOR DELETION DUE TO THE OTHER BAND HAVING THEIR ARTICLE DELETED FIFTEEN YEARS AGO. --Aubernas (talk) 09:15, 24 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

LEISURE (band)LEISURE – There are no other articles named LEISURE (in all caps) on Wikipedia. Leisure as a concept is far more notable than this band but there is no danger of name collision as one name is written in all caps and the other is not. JIP | Talk 17:59, 30 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

It should be unless it’s demonstrated that a significant number of reliable sources regularly use the capitalized stylization but so far the evidence is learning in the opposite direction.--65.92.160.124 (talk) 08:06, 31 January 2021 (UTC)Reply
The problem with citing the stylisms on these promotion-piece websites is that context makes clear it is a (band), which ELEPHANT, ZODIAC, SODASTREAM doesn't. Don't get me wrong I want to frustrate and misdirect readers as much as the next editor and make Wikipedia a giant article-content guessing game, but here 3rd party sources are using "Leisure (band)". Notability

This article is definitely worth keeping, and expanding greatly (including full pages about their albums and extended plays, with images of the covers. LEISURE have 1.4 million monthly listeners on Spotify, far more than a few dozen other bands who have wikipedia pages that I can think of on the top of my head. The fact there was no Wikipedia page for them until now is just completely daft, and I created this one because I was tired of people complaining to me that LEISURE didn't have a Wikipedia page at all, let alone any recognition of what has become one of New Zealand's most internationally successful groups. Deleting this page would be utterly crazy and set an upsetting precedent for New Zealand's music recognition on the internet. I am determined to see this page grow and develop. --Aubernas (talk) 10:11, 3 February 2021 (UTC)Reply
