Indecent Exposure

Could we get a citation for that?--Radaar 16:40, 28 June 2006 (UTC)

Birthplace

The article says Leighton 'was delivered in a Texas hospital' yet her infobox says her birthplace is Florida. I'm going to change it, because it's a contradiction. Morhange (talk) 08:49, 22 December 2008 (UTC)

AirForce Sex Scandal

The article states Leighton's brother was involved in a sex scandal yet there is no citation for this. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.251.180.139 (talk) 23:57, 7 May 2009 (UTC)

Material about parents and brother, ect

Can we get better sources than blogs for this? How much coverage has this recieved? How relevant is the brothers activities, ect to this bio? Lots of questions/concerns. Can this be worked out here on the talk page first before including? I came here from the BLP board. Thanks, --Tom (talk) 22:22, 19 June 2009 (UTC)

Wikipedia is for FACT and EVERYTHING is sourced and some sources have DIRECT quotes from Leighton herself. Please stop your bias. This is all SOURCED and just because you dont want people to think bad of leighton, you need to stop removing valid, sourced information. It is the truth about what happened in her life. Please google it. There was a huge amount of reliable sources and quotes from Leighton herself. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jacksonori47 (talkcontribs) 22:25, 19 June 2009 (UTC)

Additionally, I have added FOUR reliable sources (including FOX NEWS and NY MAG) talking about the issue. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jacksonori47 (talkcontribs) 22:29, 19 June 2009 (UTC)

(e/c) :First off, the first time I ever heard of this person was about 30 minutes ago. I have zero interest or bias about the subject of this article. This is more about what "material" goes into a bio of a living person and what reliable sources are used. Can we please use this page to discuss that and improve the article? Second, what do others think? Also, can you please use four tildes (~) to sign your posts, thanks, Anyways, --Tom (talk) 22:31, 19 June 2009 (UTC)

Some of the sources listed as NY Mag, CBS News, Fox News, an interview with Leighton speaking of the subject directly in Teen Vogue and US Weekly, a TV Guide interview, an article in the San Francisco Gate, the newspaper from the town Leighton grew up in (Naples Daily news). If you do not consider those reliable sources, you have a problem. If you want I can find 20 more sources from valid/reliable newspapers and magazines. Everything is valid and sourced and should not be removed as it is the story of HER life. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia for facts, and what is posted is FACT 22:35, 19 June 2009 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jacksonori47 (talkcontribs)

ADDITIONALLY -- YOU ARE REMOVING SOURCED information. If you continue to do so, you will be reported. Everything is sourced from a VALID/REPUTABLE site. IF YOU CONTINUE TO REMOVE THE SOURCED INFORMATION, YOU WIILL BE REPORTED Jacksonori47 (talk) 22:37, 19 June 2009 (UTC)

(e/c)Can you pleeeeaaase sign posts :) Also, no need to shout. Seriously, this is not going well, anybody else want to help? --Tom (talk) 22:39, 19 June 2009 (UTC)

Are you slow or something??? Why would you remove sourced information???? I do not understand what your problem is. Meester has spoken about her upbringing MANY MANY times. In magazines, newspapers, TV interviews, etc. Why do you want the information removed???? It is all from reliable sources. Do a little bit of research. You have no reason to want the information removed. Leighton has acknowledged it in the past and you have NO reason at all to be making a fuss about it. It's pathetic. Jacksonori47 (talk) 22:41, 19 June 2009 (UTC)

Thank you for signing your post. Can you now stop shouting and accusing me of being slow? --Tom (talk) 22:57, 19 June 2009 (UTC)

I re-did her biography with actual information about LEIGHTON'S early life and not the life her parents led before she was even born or scandal her brother was involved in, again which Leighton was not apart of. I thought it was inappropriate that in Leighton's biography, all that was discussed were the scandals of her NON-FAMOUS parents and brother.Kmeow00 (talk) 11:21, 18 July 2009 (UTC)

Brother

I've pulled out the bit about her brother being in the sex scandal. This article is about Leighton, not Douglas. Tabercil (talk) 01:25, 19 July 2009 (UTC)

I agree. Besides, I think this is a "guilt-by-association" type of act. --Andrewlp1991 (talk) 06:22, 22 July 2009 (UTC)

Birth

I brought up the issue of Meester's birth and the use of her birth certificate as a source at WP:BLP/N#Leighton Meester. I hunted down a secondary reliable source (Rolling Stone magazine) detailing the circumstances, but as they don't seem to have the text available on their website, I'm quoting the relevant paragraph below. For now I just copy-edited the article to be slightly less specific.

As child, Meester had suspected there was something unusual about her birth. She's heard stray whispers of conversations from relatives over the years, but no one had ever said anything explicitly until one day at Meester's elementary school in the Gulf Coast resort town of Marco Island, Florida.
"We were all talking, and this girl is like, 'I know something about you,'" Meester recalls. "So she takes me into the bathroom, and she says it: 'You were born in jail.'" "I looked at the girl, and I literally was like, 'Fuck you!" Meester says, laughing. "I didn't even know what it meant. 'Fuck you!' The next time I saw my mom, I was like, 'Was I born in jail?'"
Technically, she was not. Meester's mother, as well as her aunt and grandfather, were arrested as part of a marijuana smuggling ring in the carly 1980s. Federal prosecutors charged that the group conspired to smuggle 1,200-pound shipments of marijuana into the country from Jamaica. Meester's father also served time for possession. Her mother, Connie, was sentenced to 10 years at a federal prison in Texas - at the time, she was pregnant with Leighton.
"She did serve part of her sentence while pregnant with me," Meester says. But when Connie was ready to give birth, she was moved to a halfway house and delivered Leighton at a hospital in April 1986. After three months, Connie returned to prison, and Leighton went to live with her grandmother. Connie would later be released after serving a total of 16 months.

Siawase (talk) 14:57, 9 September 2009 (UTC)

The Us magazine article is referenced in the article already, but the courtesy URL contains only a short summary (actually, the URL is dead now, but still in google cache.[1]. The full printed article contains a very detailed account of the circumstances of her birth, including the name of the hospital (Baylor All Saints Medical Center, not a prison hospital btw, just to clear that up) but does not have the name of the county. The location is only specified as "Fort Worth, Texas". It also mentions her full name as "Leighton Marissa Meester". With that I think there are enough secondary sources to not need to use the birth certificate as a ref, and as such, I'm removing it and replacing it with refs to Us. Siawase (talk) 09:14, 11 September 2009 (UTC)

Sourcing

A lot of material was deleted recently, all referencing sourcing policy, but from what I can see there are no big issues with WP:V or WP:RS regarding the material that was deleted. To detail some of the things that were mentioned in the edit history:

The "twitter" source is not some nebulous entity that is "twitter", but it's Meester via twitter, which in this case is perfectly acceptable per WP:SELFPUB.

The "fansite" source is actually Teen magazine, via the fansite, which per WP:SAYWHEREYOUGOTIT is commendably transparent.

One big slew of text about her childhood and early career that was deleted was actually cited with a perfectly good source (her official CW bio) just a few sentences down.

Re: Us Weekly, Rolling Stone and the birth and middle name information: printed, published offline sources are perfectly acceptable per WP:V. In this case the offline sources are likely the best there is and the Us Weekly URL is just a courtesy link, ie, the source is still valid, the link is just provided for convinience. If you want to verify it, locate a hard copy of the magazine. BTW, see WP:DEADREF for how to handle dead links. (Tip: deleting the whole shebang is not the first step)

Since there was a lot of deletions I might have missed something, so feel free to just let me know. Siawase (talk) 08:33, 19 September 2009 (UTC)

Relationship

It seems that someone is messing around with th relationship status of Leighton as well as Jessica Szohr and Ed Westwick. The same person keeps editing all those three pages. Since I am new to this, could someone please check? The source for Leighton breaking up with her boyfriend in November 2009 is some months old and therefore NOT real. Songs from Country Strong

Her songs from the movie Country Strong should be added to the article as well: "Summer Girl", "A Little Bit Stronger", and "Give In To Me".. --Willthacheerleader18 (talk) 19:49, 8 January 2011 (UTC)

featured single

can someone add that shes featured in a single by Stephen Jerzak called She Said207.161.130.133 (talk) 08:15, 13 July 2010 (UTC)

Her single Christmas (Baby, Please Come Home) also needs to be added. --Willthacheerleader18 (talk) 16:52, 22 August 2010 (UTC)
Could someone add Your Love's a Drug as second single on her discography-singles box? It hasn't been widely released but it is her second. The song has even been in the charts http://www.itunescharts.net/us/artists/music/leighton-meester/songs/your-loves-a-drug/ ;-) Sofffie7 (talk) 21:51, 31 July 2011 (UTC)

Sebastian Stan

Why can't it be mentioned she dated Sebastian Stan, her co-star on Gossip Girl? For example, it is mentioned on Blake Lively and Penn Baddgley's page that they dated for 3 years... Sofffie7 (talk) 09:48, 1 August 2011 (UTC)

Do you have a reliable source for it? Nymf hideliho! 10:37, 1 August 2011 (UTC)
Yes I think I do. It depends on how you consider my sources ;-) First, there is a picture of them on TVFanatic http://www.tvfanatic.com/gallery/sebastian-stan/ ; then a picture in the NYPost of them kissing at a basketball game http://www.nypost.com/p/pagesix/celebrity_photos/item_rkbdfNHSuhQqb2LSjwYF7L?photo_num=4 and here http://www.nypost.com/p/pagesix/celebrity_photos/celebrities_caught_kissing_lhBMfAjswdEdxvq0rxV1SO?photo_num=68 and finally another picture in Glamour http://www.glamourmagazine.co.uk/celebrity/pictures-today/2009/12/18/gossip-girls-leighton-meester-and-sebastian-stan.
There are also articles about their breakup: in Marie-Claire http://www.marieclaire.co.uk/news/celebrity/450042/leighton-meester-splits-from-gossip-girl-co-star.html and in Vanity Fair http://www.vanityfair.com/online/daily/2010/04/are-two-gossip-girl-couples-now-four-gossip-girl-singles.html . I don't know which one best fits but that's what I've found :) Sofffie7 (talk) 18:33, 1 August 2011 (UTC)

Lawsuit Against Her Mother

Some editors seem to be pushing a POV by constently deleting information regarding Meester's recent lawsuit against her mother over claims of theft of her monies. Please stop doing so! This is legitimate information. And it now seems that her mother has filed a counter-suit claiming that Meester hit her with a glass bottle. http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/blogs/dailydish/detail?entry_id=93986

Please stop this repeated vandalism!  General Zukov  23:00, 26 July 2011 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by General Zukov (talkcontribs)

This content seems to have been reported in multiple sources: Reuters, E-Online, Huffington Yahoo, MSN entertainment, and others including tvguide.com, vancouversun.com, and torontosun.com. I don't see where the editors removing the info have replied here on the talk page. So, exactly what is the "BLP concern" [2] with this material? Gimmetoo (talk) 08:06, 31 July 2011 (UTC)
If I thought I could have a civilized discussion with this person, I would have replied here sooner (this, this, this, this, the repeated use of the word "vandalism", etc leads me to believe that the person only has his own interests at heart.) Nymf hideliho! 08:54, 31 July 2011 (UTC)
And as far as the sources are concerned, all the sources that General Zukov provided refers to TMZ - a news source that is notorious for publishing rumors. Nymf hideliho! 09:01, 31 July 2011 (UTC)
GZ's behaviour isn't directly relevant to a "BLP concern" about the content, so what is the BLP concern that keeps this excluded? This content doesn't need detail, but it seems to be widely-enough reported that it could be mentioned. Gimmetoo (talk) 09:28, 31 July 2011 (UTC)
If it is trimmed down to 1-2 sentences (means less details), kept under personal life, and a source that doesn't attribute TMZ is used, I have no problem with it. The BLP concerns was the unreliable source and the sensationalist details. Nymf hideliho! 09:49, 31 July 2011 (UTC)

::::::I don't care if you have a problem with it or not, Nymf. Go push your POV elsehwere. TMZ is a perfectly reliable source. It is owned by Time-Warner & CNN and is well known. When you and your own mother are suing each other and alledging getting beat in the head with a bottle & stealing money, that is a pretty sensational fact. You can't hide the truth just because you happen to be a Meester fan. General Zukov  09:52, 2 August 2011 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by General Zukov (talkcontribs)

Keep up that behavior, and I'll bring this to WP:ANI. As far TMZ goes, it has been deemed unreliable several times. Here's one discussion, Wikipedia:Administrators'_noticeboard/IncidentArchive549#TMZ. Nymf hideliho! 13:41, 2 August 2011 (UTC)

::::::::Yeah, I read that link. It's all a bunch of bullshit with most of the complaints regarding how much certain people think the Hollywood press sucks ass and why shows like that are bad, etc., etc. But once you read past the ad hominem attacks and get to the substance, there was really nothing there. They all agreed that the stories were right on the money and timely. In any event, the fact still remains that TMZ is owned by one of the biggest media outlets in the World - Time-Warner, who also runs CNN. I'm going to keep using it as a source, when appropriate, and will continue to fight those that try to stop me and suppress the news.  General Zukov  11:05, 3 August 2011 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by General Zukov (talkcontribs)

The Express, a publication of the Washigton Post, in their People Lookout section, on June 7, 2012, reported that Leighton Meester accused Constance Meester of using funds intend for Leighton's ill brother for plastic surgery, Bottox, and hair extentions. Also, the story was reported by Reuters. So, that is two sources. Geraldshields11 (talk) 15:01, 7 June 2012 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Geraldshields11 (talkcontribs)

Last name

Just noticed that Leighton Meester's last name has been changed to Brody. Is this an assumption because she is now married or is there an actual source for this information. Assuming that someone's changed her name because she is now married is not very modern and should not be assumed. If she has actually changed her last name a source is needed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Candy92cane (talkcontribs) 01:42, 22 February 2014 (UTC)

Sex tape

Maybe wait until this plays out. Right now its alleged. --Tom (talk) 19:58, 22 June 2009 (UTC)

I noticed User:Threeafterthree removing sourced info about the sex tape scandal; the info consisted of only one sentence not even a big paragraph. So why remove it? --Andrewlp1991 (talk) 20:06, 22 June 2009 (UTC)
Alleged sex tape? This isn't TMZ. --Tom (talk) 21:12, 22 June 2009 (UTC)

No it's been confirmed..... —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ebradford123456789 (talkcontribs) 00:32, 23 June 2009 (UTC)

So, you know, with one-hundred percent certainty, that Leighton Meester has been filmed whilst engaging in sexual activities--and have proof of it? I think it's BS. Paperxcrip (talk) 20:25, 4 July 2009 (UTC)

Someone is really adamant about having the sex tape information on here when it has neither been confirmed nor denied by Leighton nor her people. Only claimed by bloggers and the people trying to sell it. I don't understand why this type of scandal can be excluded from male stars like Dustin Lance Black and Fred Durst yet it must be included in this actress's biography when she has no involvement in its distribution.Kmeow00 (talk) 19:47, 18 July 2009 (UTC)

I edited the line about her saying "The tape is was proven to be fake", since she never said that in the Harper's Bazaar article. What she did say was "[The tape] is not real". —Preceding unsigned comment added by Afarkas (talkcontribs) 21:13, 21 September 2010 (UTC)

In my opinion, especially since it was proven to be fake, the whole mention of that tape is WP:UNDUE and should be removed per WP:BLP. Any objections? Nymf hideliho! 21:18, 21 September 2010 (UTC)
I completely agree, just remove it. Siawase (talk) 22:26, 21 September 2010 (UTC)
Not trying to be argumentative, but where's the proof that the tape is fake? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Afarkas (talkcontribs) 15:39, 22 September 2010 (UTC)
Plus, isn't it still relevant? Even if it is fake, shouldn't the section remain, maybe under the title of "Sex Tape Scandal"? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Afarkas (talkcontribs) 15:44, 22 September 2010 (UTC)

in that harper's bazaar interview that was mentioned http://www.harpersbazaar.com/celebrity/news/leighton-meester-interview-0909 she also says '"People think it's real because somebody says it is." She takes a sip of her Coke. "By the way, [as for] me being 18 in those pictures, I don't believe I was."' so she at least confirms those pictures which are reported to be from the tape are her and are real http://www.egotastic.com/entertainment/celebrities/leighton-meester/leighton-meester-sex-tape-pictures-004731/ also fox news http://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/2009/06/22/exclusive-leighton-meesters-sex-tape-saga/ reports Mr. Skin among others rejected the tape with a $100,000 price tag 80.1.219.140 (talk) 20:06, 21 April 2014 (UTC)

Reported pregnancy

Meester's reported pregnancy has not been confirmed by the couple nor their representatives. Every one of the reports claiming she is pregnant is based on anonymous, unnamed, unverifiable "sources" whose credibility cannot be determined, i.e. rumors. They all are based on photos that appeared on the tabloid site PopSugar — and photos can be Photoshopped. Celebrity hoaxes happen. Maybe the pregnancy is true, maybe it's not — an encyclopedia need to wait for confirmation. There is no WP:DEADLINE and Wikipedia is WP:NOTNEWS. --Tenebrae (talk) 23:01, 20 May 2015 (UTC)
