Errata - "Naïve image processing application" edit

Previous Figure 4 - Reconstruction of a hand-drawn draft using 2D-legd2. (a) "Original" (b) "Reconstructed image from 1-level wavelet decomposition."

There has been on this page a notice that 1-level reconstruction 2d-legd2 may be use to provide some "interesting effects". Attempts to reproduce these effects have led to the conclusion that the claimed effect is due to artefacts that are not related to the Legendre wavelet. Especially, it seems that the missing edge in the original image were due only the effect of a "violent" downsampling. The missing edges were here during the processing. Colors in the image are due to MATLAB palettes, the result image is also downsampled, but the ringing effect that has appears on the border have avoided edges to be loss.

Here is the image that has been used when this application was claimed :

A naïve image processing application (content prior to dispute) edit

2-dimensional Legendre transform (2D-legdN) for image analysis is promptly available. Interesting effects have been observed in multiresolution decomposition of hand-drawn images such as illustrated in figure 4.

MATLAB manual page? edit

Reads more like a MATLAB manual page than an actual description of the wavelet. One can implement it in other systems. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2604:6000:1118:42CB:9497:8065:AE34:F1F7 (talk) 01:17, 21 October 2018 (UTC)Reply
