Was he born in 1914 or 1917? There are multiple sources for each. Grove gives 17, as does Being Prez: The Life and Music of Lester Young. My guess is that Feather, who also went for 17, got it wrong and others just copied, but then the ultimate source of 14 appears to be Lee Young himself (the source now in the article & the NYT obituary).
